The lid does indeed close on it easily.
I have cut carrots, onions, potatoes, and celery in the bottom as a bed on a 4.2 pound chuck roast.

Threw in some red wine sauce (liquid slid down to veggies) after searing the meat, should I worry it will overflow?

Pic is from right before setting to cook for 8 hours.

I would take most of the veg out and do them in a Dutch oven or other pan/pot until it all cooks down a lot. I often make an extra casserole of veggies anyway because only so many can fit in the slow cooker and it’s nice to have them with all the meat and gravy.

  2. Yes, it should be about two thirds full. Looks lovely though.

On a slightly separate note… why the plastic?

Too full. Take the veggies out, sauté separately. Cook meat for a few hours, then add veggies back in.

  4. All these purists giving you shit over using a crock liner! “But its so easy, just rinse it with soapy water!” “Ew, don’t you know you’re eating microplastics when you use those?” Like the microplastics arent in the tap water already 🙄 save your judgements for the bathroom mirror and the actual subjects in question, eesh.

Yeah I knew the weirdos would be here talking about the plastic like they are actually eating the meal.

  6. Yeah. You need to cut it up or use a Dutch oven.

  7. Sometimes I worry about microplastics, then look at this and think… however bad it is for me, I have to be ahead of the curve.

I’m on a lot of gardening subs as well and was very confused about what was going on with your rosemary plant for a second.
