There was a fake label taped over my “cream of mushroom”. Has this happened to anyone?
It was cream of chicken. We didn’t realize until it was too late.

More likely to be incompetence than malice. Reach out to Campbells.
Also see if there was already a recall on this. No-one checks for recalls before they eat stuff. I certainly don’t. But we should, coz shit gets recalled all the time for fucked up reasons.
“Yeah, a pipe was leaking into the production line. Dunno, the salmonella pipe I guess coz there’s now a risk of salmonella poisoning…”
It’s not just used because turns out you car has a fatal flaw and you should take it back to the dealer on a flat bed truck…
>The problem was found when customers complained about the product. Campbell then discovered that cans has been labelled wrongly and actually contained a different soup.
You should probably tell the store you bought it from
meekonesfade
did you open it?Is it possible that it is cream of mushroom that was initially mislabeled then corrected?

Tell the store ASAP, mislabelled food can hurt or kill people. You never know what ingredients people are allergic or intolerant to and someone who didn’t notice could eat something bad by accident.

You bought soup with a visibly altered label? Why?

Ninja edit: For giggles I did a quick “recall salmonella” search. This was less than a week ago… https://eu.usatoday.com/story/money/food/2024/01/16/quaker-oats-recall-list-salmonella/72242085007/
Another edit: “recall campbells” gives precedent… https://www.dairyindustries.com/news/3186/campbell-soup-recall-over-milk-mix-up/ from 2002.
