Welcome everyone, come along with me as I start the process of planting my winter vegetable garden in Texas Zone 9a. Summer is right around the corner, let’s get planting!

Hey guys it’s Britney we are currently in my vegetable garden right now um I’m in zone 9A Texas it is currently 65° out right now is very drizzly very very humid but I’ve been wanting to get out into my garden and just clean it up a

Bit start planting some of my seeds for the winter crop um I do already have some planted over there I’ll show you here in a bit but I just thought I would take you along with me so here we Go okay I’m back had to go inside it started to drizzle and I had to put my hair up because it is way too humid out here and I was looking crazy so in this B said we are going to plant some carrots this right here is my asparagus

That I planted uh was it this last spring um it’s my first time to ever grow asparagus so we’re going to see how it turns out so far it’s looking good and it survived our winter frost that we had recently so I’m happy about that whoop Dy Okay so I have about four varieties of different uh carrots I know for sure I want to plant these new carrots that I got from Baker Creek seed they are called carrot and merillo they are a beautiful yellow carrot and then we have I’m not even going to try to pronounce

But it is a purple carrot from also from Baker Creek seed and then I have some orange ones from Burpy this one is uh n half Longs and then short and sweet which I pled these a couple years and I really love these these are a little bit smaller carrots

But they’re super sweet start this row with the amerillo yellow carrots and these seeds guys are super tiny and you barely have to um you barely have to plant these in the soil you just sprinkle them on the surface um and you just hope that they don’t blow Away N I think this is an old carrot that I missed harvesting um this past fall so let’s see what it looks like this a tiny little dude I think that’s carrot we’re just going to go ahead and pull him up see if the Bunny wants him Here so I’m going to do a small patch of the uh standard orange carrots that I usually plant um because we grow these every single year and these are our new carrots so I really want to get a big patch of These [Applause] sh okay so I got my seeds that I’m going to be planting today I know this is not very uh organized but it works for me I have my plant tags with my marker and then I have my bucket in case I run into any weeds that I just want to

Pull I’ll come uh summertime I will put fresh layer of compost on all my beds um but for my winter plants I just kind of stick them in what I have now and they they seem to do just fine so in half of this bed I think that I’m going to go

Ahead and plant uh broccoli because we we love broccoli I want as much broccoli as we can get some King hybrid and just from Burpee know if you can see that but so what I’m going to do is it says spacing uh 16 in apart So She’s funny you’re funny you know you’re a funny Bunny I want a lot of cilantro we love cilantro we love making salsa with it and winter time for us in zone 9A is about the only time that we can really plant cilantro cuz it as soon as it starts to get hot It Bolts here very

Very quick and then once It Bolts it just gets super bitter so I’m probably going to do two rows of cilantro and then the last one is going to be the Bloody Dog these things destroy my crops and it is a June bug larvae and they love eating the roots of your plants they love eating root vegetables in your garden they’re just they’re bad for your soil so he’s going to go in the Disposable bucket sorry little

Dude hiy kitty kitty you come to say hello you come to say hello you a sweet kitty huh It’s raining okay guys I’m not sure what happened to my video here um but I’ll be back for part two see you guys bye
