What does everyone think? Are they any good? I’ve never used any of them as for me cooking my own is pretty simple. Today I forgot my lunch at home. I’m usually running a pretty tight schedule with a required half hour break. I typically keep 3-4 tins in my bag for emergencies such as today. I wanted something a bit more substantial than just a cold tin of fish. I swung by our local Ramen/ Poke place and asked for just a small bowl of hot rice. They kinda jammed me but I was starving so I bought the most expensive bowl of rice ever ($12) I used the heat from the bowl to warm up my tin (It was delicious). Was considering keeping one or two of the little heat and eat cups in my bag for aforementioned “emergencies”. I can usually find a microwave somewhere on my route. Thought these might work well. They’re like $2.50 for two. Thanks in advance .

Careful, they aren’t dashboard-stable.
I have a whole shelf dedicated to those rice cups.
Probably 90% of my deen consumption is paired with one of those 60 second packets of instant rice!
Yes, I dig the Veetee brand, big serving.
I stick to the Korean, Japanese, or Taiwanese ones. But maybe those are fine?
I lived in Korea for 6 years and the CJ Foods brand cooked rice bowls were a staple for me! If I could find that brand near where I live now, I’d stockpile them. So good!
I always get the Bibigo ones at Costco. They’re very good, and perfect for dines!
I’m not a fan, but to each their own. If it works for you, get it.
If you hit the Asian stores you’ll find some shelf stable Japanese short grain brands that are pretty tasty as well.
I have a Korean brand that I always keep in my pantry. Sometimes I just need one service of rice and I want it in 90 seconds. You definitely pay for convenience, but, like anything, sometimes it’s worth it.
Isn’t normal rice fairly shelf stable anyway? I’ve tried a few of those pre cooked packets and the texture always seems a little off to me.
I’m not even a huge rice fan, but bought that Minute Rice jasmine rice and loved it. So much, now I want to keep it regularly stocked in the pantry.
Wouldn’t help for work, but I’ve found if you add a tablespoon of Swanson’s chicken broth to it, it makes it even more tasty and perfect.
They are convenient and surprisingly tasty. Not the best or most economical way to eat rice, but toss one in the microwave for 60 seconds and you have a serving of rice.
What’s not to like?
I keep a few on hand even though I always have normal rice in my pantry and a decent rice cooker.
No shame in this game. Choosing your own lunch and saving money by bringing it is just smart, being prepared is self-care. Use a Sharpie to write the best-by date prominently so that you can rotate through.
I see WallyWorld has a jalapeno variant (oh yah) and a quinoa mix and a multigrain. Nice options.
