
Got this sauce for some chicken tenders and also possibly to add to some shrimp for ramen. It tastes like Kraft Barbecue sauce somehow, only with lime. Absolutely foul. I also know I should have bought an Asian brand, I was just in the hot sauce aisle because I originally wanted a Nashville hot sauce for my chicken and only got this because it seemed more multipurpose. Throwing it out and sad because I also put it on my mac and cheese before trying it because I have had spicy Asian hot sauces on mac and cheese and loved it.

Damn, sad to hear you didn’t like it. I got it in an assortment with some others and have enjoyed it on my salmon. I brush it on right before I bake it.

Thats how I feel about 90% of the Melindas products, Habanero honey mustard is good as well as the Chipotle ketchup. Everything else is a pass for me.

The best sauce I’ve had from this brand is the green sauce made with spinach. It’s got a particular taste to it that I really enjoy. Some of their other sauces have been meh to me.

You need some of her Habanero Honey Mustard. That stuff is the TRUTH! Best on pizza, great on chicken.

Their Black Truffle sauce is also a bottle of pure garbage. Taste like vinegar soaked driftwood.
Melindas is overrated.
Last time I brought this up, people got really pissy with me…I think it was on /r/hotsauce.
Melinda’s was originally made by Marie Sharpe, who lives and grows on the Melinda estate in Belize.
The American distributor screwed her over in the 90’s (when there were just a couple flavors) and started making their own sauce using cheaper ingredients and marketed it under Melinda’s brand.
Marie Sharpe now sells her sauce as Marie Sharpe’s.
I have the sample pack from both companies. There are absolutely winners and losers in both. The smoked sauces from Marie Sharpe are pretty nasty. If I consider just they original habanero sauces, I Marie Sharpe’s >>> Melinda’s. I will echo that I enjoy some of Melinda’s sauces, especially the honey mustard habanero.
I have a Chipotle pepper hot sauce by them i like. It’s less runny than a lot of them.
I like it and use it a lot actually. That being said it’s 1.) not really a sauce but def more of a marinade and 2.) has a one on the spice scale, so not really spicy. It shouldn’t be touted as a sauce in big letters.
I think the best part about Melinda’s is their bottles. Everything I have had from them has been meh. Even the things that are pretty good have better counterparts elsewhere.
Their mango habanero is also really bad. Super sweet, no heat.
I don’t understand why everyone has such high expectations for this brand. They only have a couple sauces that are decent, and the rest are just awful. Even their ‘good’ ones are just kind of generic. This is a huge company that kind of exploded out of nowhere and started selling at Walmart.
