La Marzocco Linea 1EE
Niche zero

I purchased this La Marzocco Linea EE one-group used in 2009 from a coffee shop in Siler City, NC that failed. The machine was relatively new (manufactured in 2007), but still had seen better days.

In 2013, I ventured on a complete tear down and rebuild that took about 6 months. In addition to taking care of some corrosion issues (its powder coated now) I also removed the pressurestat temperature control system and replaced it with a PID (proportional integral derivative aka β€œcomputer controlled”) temperature control and upgraded the group head cap to a Piero style that adds more temperature stability.

I removed the plastic La Marzocco legs and replaced them with skateboard wheels (yes, really). The wheel legs have held up great.

The last pic is in our home in Virginia.
