One hundred clams for it. What should I be looking at? Hopefully going to get it Sunday morning.

For $100 you shouldn’t be looking at that at all unless you are skilled at cleaning and repairing that shit.

So they’re paying you 100 to haul their trash?

I’m usually of the mind that anything for $100 is a steal in today’s economy…

Buy a $100 Weber or starter propane grill at Home Depot.

Everything metal/rust will need to be replaced or it will fall apart and break the ceramic, that is well over $100. A cart or stand won’t be cheap, even if you build it. And it doesn’t look like it’s been used in a long time, so it might just crack at temperature.

Honestly, walk away from it. The bottom firebox and grate are destroyed. The general condition is not good. The glaze that protects the body is gone. I’d also be concerned about the body structure. Save the money and look for something better. Hope that helps.

I have one of these! Komodo was one of the first companies after the war to produce goods under the MacArthur agreement. A ton Of service men brought them home. This is likely an original. They’re a little beat, but they work just as good as the fancy ones after a little love.

My advice is to not waste your time or your money on that.

Its probably a decent bbq. It still has life. But looks fragile to move. It in the state of neglect. I don’t thing I would be bothered with it.

  8. Looks like it could be used a couple times before it just shatters. That’s a hard pass.

  9. MrMcSpanky94

That is literal garbage man. Definitely pass on that one.

This is a collector’s item. Someone who knows what they’re doing, how to maintain it, how to fix it, will absolutely love it.

But for someone “dipping their toes” into backyard smoking, there are a lot better options out there.

I’ll take it for free and fix it. It’s not worth paying for.

I ended up getting a couple of Weber performers w/propane light for $0 and $100, respectively. Those were both stellar deals! I’d hold off for a better deal!

  13. TheMalformedLlama

Whoever is trying to unload that for $100 is an actual POS

  14. These old ones are made from clay or terracotta. I have an old Kinuurayaki Kamado. Looks like the firebox is cracked pretty bad. Not to mention the damper door rusted to shit and missing the wire handle. Parts might be worth it to someone restoring theirs but for someone looking for their first, I’d say no.

This wouldn’t even get a message to seller from me

  16. Typirate1983

I have one in similar condition that I need to trash. Don’t bother with this one.

  17. slowandintheway

I hope you have not given up your money yet.

  18. Illustrious_Seat2914

This thing is ready to collapse, don’t buy it

I believe that is an original Imperial Kamado. It’s not a scam, he’s entitled to get what someone is willing to pay, and there are a lot of people that collect vintage Kamados that might be willing to pay that. That bottom firebox could be restored with refractory cement and a bit of know how, search YouTube video BBQ Imperial Kamado Restoration. They are fun little cookers once you get them going. My neighbor owned one years ago and it was a blast to cook on. Look for major cracks, or compromises on the main body of the Kamado and the lid. Do the bolts still have a little life in them or are they completely rusted through? Except for the main ceramic body of the Komodo, you can replace just about all the parts on it. If I had time, I think it would be a fun project and I would do it. EDIT: Zooming in on the bottom of that cooker, (middle left above vent) it seems to be majorly compromised if that is indeed crack. If that’s the case, no I would definitely pass on that. If it’s not a crack and just the way the clay is shaped, that’s different.. Those rusted out vents can definitely be replaced

Nope. If you really want it, wait until he puts it out with the trash, where it honestly belongs.

  21. True_Duel

Hard pass. That thing has been through a fire, everything is gone.

  22. NumerousRazzmatazz57

You are better using that as a forge for blacksmithing than actually being able to cook with that

  23. PuppetryOfThePenis

He should pay you for the haul off and dump fees lol. That thing is garbage.
