  1. So I made these egg rolls and OMG this recipe is legit. These are so good! The way he was eating those egg rolls at the end convinced me that they were worth a try and I’m telling you they are amazing!

  2. "Bún tàu" is called glass noodles or cellophane noodles in English.

"Bún tàu" means "noodles transported by boat" and does not mean "Chinese noodle" . The word "tàu" in "bún tàu" is from "tàu bè" (boat). Boats were the most common mean of transportation in ancient Vietnam.

Thirty years ago, I traveled all over China with a friend who speaks fluent Chinese. At that time, most Chinese in China didn't even know that glass noodles exist. They eat mostly wheat noodles (mì) and very little rice. Noodles could be found anywhere and costed less than rice. When we ordered rice in restaurants, we would have to pay an arm and a leg for a tiny bowl of rice; on the other hand, we would pay much less for a much bigger bowl of noodles. Chinese, especially northern Chinese, don't eat rice everyday like Vietnamese do. In GuangDong and GuangXi, we could order a decent portion of rice which was larger than what we got in other provinces, but we still had to pay an arm and a leg for that portion of rice.

Now with global trades, they could probably know about glass noodles. However, one thing is for sure: glass noodles didn't originate from China.
