I have been using the Fat Daddio pans recommended by Stella for her glossy fudge brownies. I recently switched from making 19X 13 pan to making two 8 x 8 pans, as it is very similar in total volume (perhaps helpful tip for others: the cooking time, 25 minutes to get to an internal temp of 205°, did not change when I switched from one large pan to two smaller pans.) the foil that I used to cover the pans leaked a little bit, so I put both of them into the dishwasher, side-by-side, same load.
One came out exactly the way it went in, but the other one has this mottled color on it, inside and out, that is not a coating – if you run your finger over it without looking, you will sense, no difference. I’m just wondering if this pan is defective, or whether this is something I can just ignore.

Their website covers this in depth. [https://fatdaddios.com/help/bakeware-care/](https://fatdaddios.com/help/bakeware-care/)
Short version is you shouldn’t have done that, but it’s fine, and you should probably reseason it.
Are they aluminum?
I don’t think it’s recommended to put aluminum in the dishwasher. The detergent can cause some sort of reaction, so that could be it.
Maybe just chance that it only happened to one and not the other

As a general rule, quality cookware, bakeware, and knives are all hand-wash only and should never get near a dishwasher unless you absolutely know otherwise. (I just took a break from washing a dinner’s worth of Nordicware and All-Clad to write this).
Soon as I saw the pic, I knew that pan had gone for a ride in the dishwasher.
