This meal is delicious. I wish I could say I don’t regret ordering it, and it’s my first vegetarian meal in awhile but it looked too good to pass up. After spending 40 minutes cheffin’ it up, I “plate” the meal and find out that this meal which is supposed to serve two people, doesn’t even completely fill one relatively small bowl. I’m so disappointed since I share these meals with my partner so it is pretty upsetting to have to split one small bowl between the two of us. 🙁 People who normally order vegetarian meals or ravioli meals — is this your experience?

Are you ordering for 2 or 4 people?

I noticed this too! A 2 person meal used to last me 3-4 meals for myself. Not anymore!

  3. The expectation of what 550 calories of ravioli should be vs reality.

Normally the pasta servings are huge but unfortunately yes the ravioli is the exception. I never order the ravioli anymore for exactly that reason.

I have noticed the ravioli portions have always been small.

  6. The calorie count usually reveals if meals are exceptionally small (the exception being salad or no-grain dishes, which are obviously always low-cal). I usually avoid those, and if one looks particularly interesting I get some extra ingredients to go with it. In this case, peas or mushrooms might have been a good addition, although admittedly there’s no easy way to add to the ravioli portion.

This is why I avoid ordering meals which are <800 calories, I know that more calories doesn’t necessarily mean bigger portions but it usually ensures I’m not going to be still hungry when I’m finished

It’s the ravioli dishes in particular – other pasta dishes give you much more. So I never order their ravioli dishes anymore!

Raviolis are always a bad value. At restaurants they give you like 4 raviolis and charge $23. The tortellini is a much better value.

Usually that’s enough for both myself & my husband. We’ll sometimes add a protein, but he doesn’t like the bell pepper so I get a whole one to myself. But the ravioli is usually enough for 5 each.

I have always loved HF ravioli dishes, but yes, it is a “small” portion versus other meals, especially other HF pasta dishes. I actually think the portion size is pretty spot on when it comes to fresh raviolis (usually something like 5-6 a serving), but definitely a meal to make when you aren’t too hungry. If you choose one of these again and want to bulk it up, throw together a couple side salads and make some garlic toast.

The ravioli dishes are always small and drowned in sauce. The same with the pasta dishes. Three ounces of pasta is not enough for most people. I add a lot more pasta to the huge amount of sauce and it goes much farther. I am a vegetarian but I understand meat eaters are likely more satisfied with the pasta dishes because the meat makes them more substantial.

My husband and I love the ravioli recipes, but hate how small the servings are. We’ve said that in the future, if we order them, we’d need to make some garlic bread or a salad to go with, because it’s just not filling. Tasty, yes. But nowhere near enough for 2 people, and we usually split with our toddler as well… so definitely not enough.
