Hi! I looked at my full weight loss graph in MyFitnessPal for the first time today, and I was surprised to see how symmetrical it was! What’s up with that? I know loss isn’t linear, but it’s the EXACT same shape twice in a row and I’m really curious about what it might mean. For reference, I’m on 1200, and only went over once (by a couple hundred at the end of January, it wasn’t much above maintenance.)

I also tend to have quite similar patterns, it actually calms me, cause I know how my fluctuations usually go.

My pattern is similar. I’m not as strict on weekends so I always see a bump up then as well as the lead up to my period.

Could be due to eating food high in salts at regular intervals such as takeout food on a weekend.

I always weigh a pound or 2 more on a Sunday morning following takeouts on Saturdays (I still eat at a deficit). The weight goes away over the week and then bumps a little again the week after.

Even if you ate completely clean constantly, and ate the same number of calories (in a deficit), you would still see peaks and troughs due to factors such as hormone changes (periods are a big one for women), workouts which can see water retention, weather (you’ll drink more when warmer).

Always best to look at trends, rather than examining each individual point. In your case, your trend is downwards and so you are losing weight.

    So yeah, completely normal!
