Greek food is so, so much better when you’re actually in Greece. There’s always free bread, great wine, and freakishly delicious fresh salads. People eat outside and the vibes are super chill, and there’s fava covered in olive oil and potatoes covered in lemon and more olive oil. There’s literally always at least one restaurant cat, and the bakeries are mostly savory and full of veggies. They drown feta cheese in a lake of honey for dessert. ALL of the yogurt is GREEK yogurt, and the stuff on the menu actually looks LESS awesome than what you get.
Everything we ate here just seemed like it was the absolute best, freshest, most incredible ingredients possible, crafted perfectly by someone who really cared about the human who would eat it. Athens is one of my new favorite places on Earth, and I can’t do it justice. If you can, you just have to go.
