Imagine this: You’re a middle-aged man living  peacefully in a mountain village in Azerbaijan,   with a passion for cooking. Your nephews,  who happen to film YouTube videos,   suggest making traditional  cooking videos, and you agree. 3 years later, you’re the star of a  mega popular cooking channel named

Wilderness Cooking with 5 million  subscribers and people literally   line up to pay for the chance to  visit your place and eat your food. Meet Tavakkul, a 50-year-old regular guy from the  high-mountain village of Qamarvan. His outdoor   cooking videos showcase traditional techniques,  unusual and sometimes a bit shocking ingredients,

Such as Turkey testickles, beef  tails, beef hooves or mutton fat. To add an even greater sense of authenticity,   Tavakkul frequently employs primitive equipment  like wood-fired ovens, underground pits,   and unconventional containers not originally  intended for cooking purposes, and so on. Thanks to high-quality production that  captures nature’s beauty, Wilderness Cooking

Videos garner millions of views and generate  substantial revenue, which we’ll explore later. Who is Tavakkul actually? Not much is known about him, but we managed to  uncover some information. As previously mentioned,   he is in his 50s and resides in a mountain  village in the northern part of Azerbaijan.

Tavakkul and his family are Lezgins,  the indigenous people of the Caucasus. Tavakkul was introduced to YouTube  by his nephew, Shamil, and his peers,   who were already creating video  content for children. Given his   exceptional culinary skills and deep  knowledge of traditional recipes,   selecting the theme for their collaborative  channel was a straightforward decision.

Because of Tavakkul’s shy personality  and limited English-speaking abilities,   the videos predominantly feature the  natural sounds of the environment and   the tools being used, creating  the perfect ASMR experience.   This is yet another proof that excellent English  skills are NOT needed to make it on YouTube. What makes this channel so successful?

There are numerous chefs producing  excellent content on YouTube,   so why is this particular one  more successful than most? First and foremost, Wilderness Cooking is  more than just a cooking channel. Their   videos capture the rural lifestyle in the  most romantic way imaginable. They feature

The beautiful sounds of nature, close encounters  with animals, children playing football, and,   on top of all that, a super-friendly guy cooking  extraordinary food. What’s not to love about that? Fast-paced city dwellers, whose culinary  highlight of the day might be grabbing a burger

At McDonald’s, simply can’t resist. Filled with  envy, they stay glued to the screen for hours,   watching Tavakkul’s leisurely-paced life  filled with delicious food and stunning nature. Secondly, Tavakkul’s cooking is  anything but ordinary. Forget   about roasting a piece of pork or  baking a chicken in the oven. I mean,

How often have you seen someone cook a  massive catfish in an underground fire pit? And he doesn’t stop there. How about preparing   a batch of turkey testicles in a  Tandoor oven? Sounds intriguing,   right? Or perhaps you’d fancy a whole large  bull roasted on an incredibly large skewer?

Cooking a whole lamb is a breeze for Tavakkul,  whether he’s using an open fire or a simple   wood-fired oven that he built himself. To put it  simply, those seeking inspiration for traditional   rural cooking techniques, often unfamiliar in most  first-world countries, turn to Wilderness Cooking.

Thirdly, Tavakkul is the real deal.  This guy doesn’t play games with his   audience. He’s a simple man living  a humble life in the mountains,   and he doesn’t pretend to be something he’s not.  His newfound fame hasn’t changed him one bit.

Remaining true to his ancestors’ legacy,  he’s more than happy to welcome his fans   into his home and prepare dinner for them.  Many have already taken this opportunity,   including several influencers  who’ve shared their experiences,   contributing to the continued growth  of the Wilderness Cooking channel.

Last but certainly not least, the video  production quality on this channel is   truly exceptional. It’s evident that  high-quality equipment has been used,   and skilled editors have transformed the raw  materials into a breathtaking final product. How much does Wilderness Cooking make?

With 5 million subscribers and over 1.2 billion  total video views, it’s no surprise that this   channel has already generated several million  USD in revenue, solely from YouTube ad earnings. All the videos on the channel  are standard long-form content,   typically running for 15 to 20 minutes,  although some are even longer. Tavakkul

Doesn’t produce short videos, which helps  maintain high revenue rates per view. Due to their geographic location, the channel  enjoys immense popularity in Azerbaijan and   the surrounding region, which slightly  impacts the overall revenue rates. However,   the extended average view duration and  multiple ad placements compensate for this.

Taking all these factors into account,  it’s reasonable to estimate the average   revenue per 1000 views at 5 USD.  With 1.2 billion total views,   the Wilderness Cooking channel has generated  approximately 6 million USD since its inception. In addition to ad revenue, Tavakkul  and his team operate a handcrafted

Cookware brand called “Home and  Wild,” which further contributes   to their earnings. While it’s challenging  to estimate the store’s revenue precisely,   given the strong support from the channel, it’s  safe to assume the numbers are substantial. Additional revenue streams  include Patreon donations,

Potential income from other social media  accounts, fan meetups, and more. All in all,   Tavakkul and the Wilderness Cooking team are  rapidly approaching a net worth of 10 million USD. Major Takeaways The success of Tavakkul and the Wilderness  Cooking channel is truly spectacular and

Defies several myths surrounding YouTube  and social media. Let’s quickly sum it up. Social media isn’t solely the  domain of Gen Z. Tavakkul,   in his 50s, stands as the exact opposite  of everything that Gen Z embodies. Yet,   in just three years, he conquered YouTube  and amassed 5 million subscribers.

While being controversial, extravagant,  or already known can aid channel growth,   it’s not an absolute requirement. Tavakkul,  a simple man residing in a secluded region,   demonstrates that it didn’t hinder him  from gaining worldwide recognition. Language proficiency isn’t a barrier either.  Tavakkul may not be particularly adept

In English, but his videos enjoy immense  popularity in English-speaking countries. Whatever your skills and lifestyle may be, there’s  an audience for you. The demand for ordinary   people showcasing their lives and abilities  is soaring. Keep this in mind if you believe

You’re too ordinary for the world of social media.  Perhaps that’s precisely what people want to see. Thanks for watching! Please  subscribe to our channel;   we’re already hard at work on new videos for you.

  2. Hes one of my favorite shows. He's amazing at all he does. I often wonder if he's married. He would be a wonderful catch..not just because he's a great chef..but he seems so relaxed and lives in a beautiful countryside and seems to love children.

  4. I put these videos on to fall asleep to. I doubt I'm the only one so he probably gets a ton of views from people peacefully sleeping with his channel on autoplay. Congratulations to him and his team 👏. They make quality content.

  5. I have watched him since the beginning when he had few thousand subscribers, while the content has steadily improved, the most improvement I have seen is his farm on the hill, he literally made all those cottages, ovens, dining areas and the animal barns from ground up over the last few years, noticing those improvements in his is also intriguing coupled with the lovely scenery, and yes the kids are always a joy at the end..

  6. There are three very famous culinary YouTube channels from Azerbaycan and all three from the Northen part of Azerbaycan Republic.Alla three channels belong to Lezgis – indigenous etnic group living across the bith sides of bordet between Azerbaycan and Russian Federation. These guys did a tremendous job – populating the Azerbaycani cuisine – a mixture of Turkic, Caucasion and Iranian dishes – across the globe!

Get a grip, life isn't a post 2000 thing, if you got here is thanks to those like him who have fed on "unconventional good" or cooked in prehistoric/ancient/not made for cooking utensils and appliances.
