Hey guys so let’s settle this balik at me or balik the room let’s find out merhaba everyone I’m here in Istanbul right at the Galata bridge in the caraku district and I’m on a mission to try some fish or balik in Turkish lot of people will tell you to try balik
Atme which are the fish sandwiches but on my research I found out this dish that people prefer more especially the locals and it’s called called balik the room which are fish wraps and when I looked at the pictures I personally think I’d rather have that because it’s
A wrap and it has less carbs because I saw the sandwiches and the bread is huge I feel like I get so full from the bread and I feel like it would also cover the taste of the fish with such a thick bread I want to try some bik the room
When you get to the Gata Bridge you’ll find a lot of these restaurants under the bridge that actually specialize in SE food they’re more touristy but they also do serme as well but I’m trying to focus on the street food so that it’s more supporting the local and it’s less tourism so let’s
Go I’m here at Murat the fisherman it is located on the street parallel to the river I try to get out of the fish market area because I notice a lot of like tourist restaurants nearby so being one street away already gives you like a more local options and this spot is very
Popular among locals it’s a hidden G so this is it guys B the room what’s actually inside is a grilled mackerel normally for B me sandwiches you can choose either grilled or fried but I believe for bik room it’s normally grilled but let me know if you can also
Get it fried they didn’t really give me an option here it’s just grilled it was nice to see them make it fresh and then you see all the spices that they made and they also ask you if you want it spicy or not so let’s try It I finally got to the fish part guys it is so good the fish tastes so fresh and with mozarella you sometimes get the fishiness taste but you don’t really get it here but you do get the mael taste and it mixes very well with the spices I
Love how this also eating area for you to enjoy I mean you can walk around while eating this but it’s also nice to be able to just randomly sit on the street and enjoy the dish the price is 100 l so it’s around $485 Canadian to around up to five
Canadian which is really really good and this is like seafood too so imagine like in Toronto this would probably be more than $10 that was such a delicious Pik the room at theur the fisherman highly recommend checking it out so now I’m actually crossing the Galata Bridge yes
Right across in the eminonu district is also another dock where you can see a lot of like seafood areas as well and I saw that you can still get BME and bik the on the other side so I’m just enjoying the walk now across the bridge
To try some there’s so many Fisher man here it’s so cool to See It is so beautiful here I really recommend walking the bridge with the views are spectacular and both left and right is really Beautiful I just crossed over to the eonon side and it’s so busy here there’s way more stalls at the dock side and so many people and that’s because it’s near the sulan mid square like right there is just the spice Bazar which I visited last time so there’s way more tourists
Here so there’s so many shops to enjoy can’t wait to see what I’ll find so this is also where find the BOS forus tours and that’s why there’s so many people who want in this area wanting to do the tour so I’m here at theu area biki
1945 and it’s right by the dock at U side and what’s amazing is you get to see that there’s actually a boat by the water that makes the B me for you and this is what the B me looks like oh it’s massive so this one is 100
L which is again around5 Canadian dollars kind of in a b bread and has lettuce and onions that was such a massive sandwich and just as I thought like the bread was too big for me I find that it kind of took over the fish and at some point I actually
Stopped eating the bread because it was way too much now that I’ve tried both the Malik me and the bik room I personally prefer the bik the room hands down like I don’t even think I would try another bik me there’s some pros and cons you might like one or the other so
One is B egme would definitely fill you up because it’s such a massive sandwich and second if if you like the more simple tasting the B neck is just plain like lettuce onions and the grilled fish there’s no spices there’s like on the table there was salt and like lime juice
And like there was a packet of like sauce that I didn’t try that’s all you get so it is more simple tasting especially if you don’t like or like spicy stuff you might like to try bik at mecm more so have you tried both if not which one would you try or which
One do you think you would like more let me know in the comments and if you enjoy more isul content check out this video right here
