    (1) The tin

    (2) The meal

    (3) Opened tin and rice with Sadaf seasoning

    (4) Oil was tasty, so I added some to the rice

    (5) Then I dumped the rest of the tin into the rice and topped it with the salmon fillet

    (6) Lots of veg in the Tagine mix – chickpeas, carrots, bell peppers, olives, spices, and quinoa are some of the things I can see in the bowl.

(7-8) Not a Moroccan Tagine though. I can fix that by adding a spoonful of my own harissa paste and a spoonful of hot ajvar, and stirring it in

    (9) The bite – definitely needed the harissa and ajvar IMO

This was I think the 3rd or 4th Freshé tin I’ve tried, and even though I had to add some harissa and ajvar, I’d totally get this tin again. It’s my favorite one so far.

Moroccan Tagine is both a cooking pot and also refers to the stewed dish cooked inside. There are as many types of Moroccan Tagine as there are cooks, so I’m not going to ding Freshé for not being an “authentic” tagine. It’s tagine-inspired, and that’s good enough for me.

And this tin was very good – I served it over a cup of leftover Middle Eastern spiced rice I had in the fridge. With a spoonful of harissa paste and some hot ajvar, it was a great light meal.

11/10 would definitely get this tin again – it’s the best one I’ve had so far from Freshé

  2. Ooo I haven’t seen this one yet. Did the fennel come through or was it overwhelmed by the other flavors? Also, what’s your go to ajvar brand?

Wow, wait a second… you found that tin of salmon and chickpeas at a local Dallas Walmart?!

Mine only caries CotS and Prince Albert in a can if I’m lucky. Nice post… looks quite appetizing to say in the least.
