In this vlog on the Best Restaurant in Florence Italy, you visit the best trattoria in Florence, Italy,
Trattoria Angiolino. This best restaurant feels like you’ve arrived in Florence and stepped through a time portal. The trattoria has been around for almost 90 years and it seems like nothing has much changed since then. The dining room is basically a long rectangular cave with an open kitchen at the end. The kitchen has been modernized but the cooking is still very much old school. It’s fun to watch the maestro, Daniele, and his crew do their magic and plate one traditional Tuscan delicacy after the other.
But it’s even more fun to taste their creations. I visited during mushroom season and their tagliatelle ai funghi porcini was out of this world. As were the fried zucchini flowers and the grilled tuscan sausage with white beans. Good, simple, traditional home cooked meals as if prepared by your Tuscan grandma a hundred years ago.
Delicious food, a cozy dining room and welcoming staff. I liked it here so much I came back again the next day. This time I went for their wild boar ravioli. Man was it good. Simply divine.
Their bistecca alla fiorentina is pretty awesome too – in fact here they ask how you want it cooked. Shouldn’t be that unusual but most restaurants in Tuscany will only serve it cooked the somewhere between rare and medium rare. Which is the traditional way. And even asking for it to be cooked more can get you kicked out and banned for life. I’m exaggerating, but they do tend to be a bit strict about that. But not here – here the customer is king.
I had a blast dining at Angiolino’s – even as a solo diner, I felt like I was part of a family meal.
The Trattoria Angiolino is located in Florence’s Santo Spirito neighborhood on the Oltrarno side of the city. It is now my new favorite old school eatery in Florence.

Cinghiale ravioli! It’s been years since I’ve had it. What amazing wines did you have with these meals?

Thank you for this gem! Planning a trip to Florence.
I'm not a fan of red wines (they put socks on my teeth!)
Are the Italians amenable to someone drinking white wine with foods
