First of all, I was surprised by the orange color and thickness, since I’ve never actually seen a legit marinade besides when I go to an AYCE kbbq (and I don’t recall it being orange).

Here are the ingredients I added:

    -1/2 Onion

    -1/4Asian pear

    -4 cloves Garlic

    -2 tbsp Soy Sauce

    -1 tbsp Mirin

    -1 tbsp Gochujang

    -1 tbsp Brown Sugar

    -1 tsp Sesame Seeds

    -1 tsp Sesame oil

    -1 green onion

It’s still early enough in the marinade (about 12 hrs) that I can still add more ingredients, maybe ginger? I should have done more research before I started but I was impatient!

EDIT: Or should I just scrap the whole bowl and start over 🙁

The marinade thickness doesn’t appear to be unusual. That’s from the pear and onion. The unusual bit is that it’s orange because you put gochujang. Normal beef bulgogi doesn’t call for gochujang.

id say ur ingredients are fine

maybe the gochujang is colored more orange than red?

This is one of many reasons why you shouldn’t get your recipes from Instagram or most other social media platforms.

Well first mistake was that you saw a recipe on Instagram…

  7. Go watch the Chef Show on Netflix, it stars Roy Choi and John Favreau, look for the episode with David Chang and Chef Choi has a real good marinade for galbi which can be used for bulgogi too
