Let’s make this delicious Jamaican fish tea soup Jamaican fish tea soup is aromatic and flavorful it is super delicious and very easy to prepare let’s jump right into this video so the first thing you want to do is put your fish into some water lime and vinegar cold water and let that
Soak for at least 5 minutes to get that extra fishy smell out then to your large pot add some water add the fish of your choice we chose snapper fish for this recipe some garlic scallion Thyme and pimento berries cover your pot and we’re just
Going to let that boil and get soft in the meantime we’re going to prep our food first thing we’re going to prep is our pumpkin this is what gives it that nice bright or orangey color peel off your skin and dice it up into small to
Medium pieces to test if your fish is soft just poke a fork into your fish and if it easily goes through the fish is ready take it out the pot and set it aside to cool and add your pumpkin into the pot to boil and dissolve while our
Pumpkin is boiling we’re just going to prep our ground food first up is yam peel off your yam skin and dice it up into medium chunks place it into a water bath to make sure the color doesn’t change but if the color changes to Yellow that is okay then
We’re going to chop up our cocoa and it is the same process peel your skin dice into medium sice pieces and add it to your water next is the cho cho or coyote chop it into half and take out that seed in the middle and peel off the
Skin dice it into small to medium pieces and add it to your water the ground Provisions that you choose is totally up to you it is all preference but these are just the traditional grown Provisions that normally goes into a Jamaican fish tea soup after our Cho we’re going to peel
Our carrots out a layer and then we’re going to dice it up into chunks not too small not too big depending on the size you like your carrots and then we’re going to add it to the bowl of water as well like I said if you’re not a carrot
Fan definitely omit the carrots now we’re going to peel our potatoes peeling off the skin then we’re going to dice it up into medium pieces because you know potatoes cook kind of fast a small to medium but medium siiz pieces cuz you don’t want them to fully dissolve into the pot and
This we’re going to add to a separate bowl of water because these go in after the potato and the corn goes in at the same time so we’re just using some fresh corn that we are peeling off the what do you call that on a corn I
Have no idea the shell I’m just going to say corn shell leaves and then dice that up into pieces that you desire and add it to the water with the potatoes and we’re just dicing up some onions that we’re going to add to the pot to give it that nice aromatic
Flavor our pumpkins are dissolved and if they’re not fully dissolved you can use your spoon to mash out the excess but you don’t have to because it’s going to boil out with these grown food I added in the first batch that we added to the water now we’re just healing our fish
And taking out the bones because nobody wants any bones in their soup especially if you’re feeding the soup to children and be very careful and be diligent when taking out the bones now after about 15 minutes we’re going to check if our first batch of ground food is semi soft
And when it’s semi soft we add in some bananas that the footage got to disappeared the corn and the potatoes but yes add that in after the 15-minute Mark after you’ve checked that your first set of brown food the Coco the yam and the cha is soft is then after you’ve
Adding your corn potato and banana you’re going to season your pot all the seasonings will be listed in the description bar below and you cannot forget the Scotch bonnet pepper and the rce or any other soup mix that you have we’re using the f fish mix for this one
The fish noodle mix after that we mix it in and we’re adding in our okra if you’re making fishy soup you cannot forget the okra we’re going to let that boil and now we’re just making our Spinners our dumpling cuz what is soup without dumpling what is Jamaican soup
Without dumpling nothing so to a bowl add some water flour and that is it that is it knead it into a dough and add it into your Boiling Pot you can make your dumpling into these round dis shape or you can make it into those string bean looking shapes or worm
Looking shapes I don’t know if I should be talking about worms right now but that’s how they kind of look but look how delicious this looks make that boil for another 5 minutes and there you have it don’t forget to add in your fish at this
Moment give it a nice mix so that the fish is well incorporated into your Jamaican fish tea soup we hope you enjoyed this video don’t forget to like comment and subscribe and we will see you guys the next recipe
