I usually don’t buy into hype but I caved after seeing this so much on here and everyone talking it up. I hate it. There’s a little heat, but mostly it tastes like a tiny bit of vinegar and a lot like charcoal or when I forget garlic bread broiling in the oven for an hour. Is there something I’m missing? Am I supposed to use this in place of liquid smoke? What do I do with this?

Great on some stew or chunky soups with some fresh bread to dip. Probably a little on top of some salsa to add flavor. It’s strong and needs to pair with other strong flavors imo
This goes on taquitos for me. #smoquitos
The Islay scotch of hot sauces. Perfect in the right situations. Usually needs pairing with something spicier though.
I loved this sauce at first but then I got tired of that super smokey flavor kinda tasted like liquid smoke, the XXX Mayan recipe version is the best flavor wise imo
I dig it. Not too hot, enough heat to be interesting and some smoky flavor to boot!
I use it as hot liquid smoke. Exactly
Went into the garbage can for me. Just wasn’t for me.
Edit: I enjoy their other flavors much more than this one.
I think it needs to be added to something you want, or already tastes, smoky. If you’re not trying to do that, it’s not going to work.
Has it been really hyped? The reactions I’ve seen have usually been mixed at best, a lot of people seem to think the smokey flavor is way too much. XXXtra Hot is the one I see basically everyone raving about all the time and for good reason IMO, it’s definitely my favorite of the inexpensive easily accessible sauces I’ve tried. In fact one of my favorite sauces period.
I’ll never not upvote these posts. It’s one of my absolute favorites.
So good
I see a lot of hate for it. Last bottle I bought lasted me less than a week, I love the smokiness
Huh. I have a bottle I haven’t opened yet (due to the number of open hot sauces already in the fridge). I’m interested in trying it to see what I should pair it with, but it doesn’t sound like it’s aimed too well at my preferences.
Not too spicy for me. I prefer the ghost sauce.
Have the version from Mexico, and grom Amazon. It’s smoky because habañeros are charred hard, and instead of peeling them, they add the char into the sauce. Very very strong and I found off-putting UNLESS it’s combined with an item that take smoke well, and isn’t already smoked.
Not for everyone, acquired situational taste for me. Thanks for sharing that didn’t sit well with you! I like that we can do that here!
One of my favorites , I would choose this over most other hot sauces.
