Join me on my first visit to my allotment garden in Houston, where I’ll share how I secured this plot for vegetable gardening and my plans for the future. If you’re interested in allotment gardening in Houston, this video is for you!

Guys I’m heading over to my allotment so I’ve not been here for the past um I want to say eight months since June so I thought I should visit it today because we about to kick off Spring 2024 ging so let me show you how it

Look okay my people this is how the allotment is looking like as expected it is a weedy mess like I said the last time I was here was in June of 2023 and I’m going to show you in a minute how this place looked like back

In May June you know when I had it full of vegetables but I also wanted to use this opportunity to explain to you how I got this piece of land to grow vegetables as you know my garden is in Houston Texas where I do the backyard

Gardening is in Houston Texas and let me tell you guys down here in Houston it is not easy to get allotments like the real allotments the type that I see um gardeners in the UK have maybe people in the Northeast they have like proper allotments it’s a piece of land with

Water and all of you know whatever you need for gardening NOP not in Houston we do not have allotments and I always wanted one because I needed space to grow corn you know my backyard is not enough to grow all of the other things that I grow plus enough corn and by

Enough corn I mean corn that I can actually roast and maybe boil and eat and give away you know what I mean and you need land you need like a field to grow proper corn especially the type that we grow back home you need a lot of

Space anyway so I’d been wanting space to grow my corn I kept talking about it and then one day I visited this place place where I always visit to buy chicken Mano and other gardening supplies I was having a conversation with the guy that own the place and then

Um I just thought to ask hey can I grow some vegetables in your piece of land and guess what guys he said yes and this was 2 years 3 years ago the first year I didn’t get anything out of this place last year I almost abandoned it and then

Decided to try again using all the lessons I learned the first time because first time allotment gardening is not easy and then last year I had a lot of success and I’m back again this year he led me grow vegetables this year so I’m here to check out the space I know it’s

A mess right now but I promise you I am going to clean up this place and we will use this space to grow a ton a ton of vegetables stay tuned let me show you how this place looked like back in 20 2023 Tada take a look my people take a

Look look at that corn it has tassled so well look at that corn I planted the corn in two stages succession planting oh my goodness ah so yeah as you can see for yourself the allotment did quite well last year with very little water I might say I only

Depended on rain to um provide water for this place because there’s no water which is why I only do allotment gardening like from March to June I only have to grow things that will grow within 3 months because the drought in Houston in the summer is vicious and

There’s no way I can hand water this entire place so I depend on rain water only make sure you subscribe to this channel like the video share the video If it adds value to you I will make sure I keep you posted on my journey this

Year all right guys I’m going to go back home I have seen and I know what work needs to be done now I just need to decide if I’ll do it by myself or pay somebody to do it I think I’m leaning towards paying somebody to help me with

The cleanup and then I’ll just do the planting I’ll keep you posted bye
