Hi all, just spent a few days in Dallas/Austin and got a lot of recs and ideas from this page so thought I would do a post. We were mainly here for BBQ, husband has been dreaming about it since I’ve known him so we predominantly ate at BBQ places.

We had one night in Dallas, and ate at The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ and stayed next door at Trophy Club. The food was phenomenal (tastes even better after a 15 hour flight). The Texas Twinkies there were something else. Jalapeno & Cheese sausage was the best I had in Texas. A great way to start our holiday!

We drove to Austin and visited Lockhart, going to Blacks BBQ. The brisket was on another level. So soft and melty. The best brisket I had in Texas. The beef rib was like a dinosaur, and so easy to pull from the bone. Driving into Lockhart we had our windows down and could smell everything.

The next day husband did the Franklin’s line. got there at 8.15am and was 5th. My son and I came up a bit later. The time went quick and then we were in. Again, the food was great. I’m not a huge fan of pork, but I appreciated the taste. The brisket was soft and juicy and the sausages were good.

For breakfast the next day we went to Granny’s Tacos. They were unreal. We just don’t get Mexican food this good in Australia. Husband tried Cactus which he loved. Now I need to not convince him to eat the plants when we get home.

Thanks for all your hospitality Texas! We had a fabulous time.
