The Alley is one of the more famous of the boba shop chains as they’re one of the OGs to make brown sugar boba along with the likes of Tiger Sugar and Xing Fu Tang (both of which the Austin area doesn’t have).

They soft open to the public today and I tried out their 5 popular drinks:

– Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brûlée Milk, $6.45 – 8/10

– Ube Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brûlée Milk, $6.75 – 9/10

– Royal No. 9 Milk Tea, $5.75 – 6.5/10

– Strawberry Green Tea with Jelly, $6.25 – 7/10

– Original Purple Rice Yogurt, $7.50 – 8.5/10

The boba and jellies are made in-house and are flavorful – no weird artificial taste. Nice smooth outside and fun chewy inside, but not too chewy which I appreciate.

You’ll notice I gave the tea drinks lower scores and that’s because I feel that they could’ve done a better job there as other spots like ChiCha San Chen has a better process of brewing that makes their tea more flavorful.

All in all, this corner of the greater Austin area has lacked a really good boba spot and I’m jealous for the Cedar Park folks that get to enjoy this famous staple.
