I whisked together 1/3 cup hoisin sauce, 1/3 cup honey, 4 tablespoons ketchup, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 4 cloves minced garlic, 1 tablespoon sesame seed oil, of and 1 tablespoon chili powder.
I then seasoned ten drumsticks (~3.5 pounds) with salt and pepper. I realized I did not have any Chinese Five Spice, so I used cumin, turmeric, nutmeg, cinnamon sugar, and ground coriander.
I tossed the drumsticks in the sauce, threw it all (and a last minute addition of sliced mushrooms) in the slow cooker, and cooked on high for 4 hours.
Before the chicken finished, I cooked up some jasmine rice (seasoned with sesame seed oil and salt) and sliced up some scallions.
This was really good., and I am happy with how it turned out. Only downside is that I have a ton of leftovers, so I may get sick of this over the next couple days.
