So I’ve had the Pit Boss 850 Pro Series for about 6 months. First couple months (first 8-10 cooks) everything was fine . However, since then I’ve had about FOUR GREASE FIRES. I’ve posted some pics of the inside where the heat shield is placed .. it seems to me that either I have it positioned incorrectly OR there’s a manufacturing issue. The heat shield is not able to be properly slanted enough to drip the grease into the bucket . As a temporary solution I’ve been placing aluminum foil all throughout the bottom of the grill to prevent grease from getting trapped at the bottom and starting to bubble . ANY ADVICE would be GREATLY appreciated. I love my grill don’t wanna have to get rid of it ANYTIME soon.

The heat shield should be on on top of the “hoop” curved metal sticking up; instead of beside it. Changing that position should provide the proper angle to drain.

Rest the heat shield on top of the two semi circle (curved hoop) parts. The left side will be higher than the right side. In the first photo you can see how the heat shield will rest on the curve and allow grease to run into that funnel and out the square hole to the grease bucket. If it looks unnatural and like the left side is really close to the grate… It’s actually perfect. I had the same problem you did until I adjusted the heat shield.

Edited to correct that the first, not second, photo shows the grease bucket funnel/hole.
