I’ve been looking for a kamado for a while. Recently saw these at Costco and tempted with the Weber.

I will do some smoking and steak/burger/ribs.

Neither. Save yourself ~$800 and get a Weber Kettle and a WSM.

But if I had to pick one of those, then the Weber

I love my summit. Great grill with a lot of great features I like. Easy ash removal, hinge grates, different coal heights, third party fan port, and huge cooking surface. If you amortize fuel cost over a long enough period something like the big green egg probably becomes a better value, but for $1250 (in the States) I think it’s an incredible value.

Take a look at the Kong by grilla grills I have a komodo joe classic and a kong by grilla and could be happier

  5. Ceramic because the heat retention, that makes easier to smoke.

Summit, because I don’t worry about cracking ceramic which I’m sure will eventually happen.

  7. I’ve had my Pit Boss ceramic smoker I purchased at Costco for 10 years. It’s still smoking strong. I replaced a handle and felt gasket with the exceptional help of a Put Boss customer service rep.

I’d almost always recommend a ceramic kamado, but between a pit boss and a weber, I’d always take the weber. However, for about 4-500 less you can get a kamado joe series 1, which I’d take over the summit all day.

Weber. I have a Pit Boss version from Costco. It’s fine but the sizes are nothing standard and replacement parts can be a pain to source, if at all, outside of Pittsburgh Boss themselves.
