A brother, sister team has brought their family’s business to the next level. You may have tried Baba’s Hummus because it’s everywhere. It’s been at the state fair. It’s now in all these grocery stores. It is a brand that is growing leaps and bounds and it’s made right here in Minnesota now.
There’s a new restaurant and facility on Lindale in Minneapolis. And we have Khalid. I, sorry, he is the CEO, this is a family business. What is it? Third generation, second generation, second generation. Well, congratulations. So I do buy your hummus. I love how
Many grocery stores is it in now? So we are now launching into 700 grocery stores. Uh Yeah. No. And you know what? And I know maybe some folks understand how difficult that is, but that is really a difficult task to get into 700 grocery stores with a, with a,
With a thing that a lot of people make hummus. A lot of people make coms. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You have to have something different than that. And so this is where you make it. It’s made right here in Minnesota. It’s wonderful. Chris loves the olive. It’s just there it is right there.
Olive. OK. So that’s been going on. How long, how many? So me and my sister started it six years ago off of my dad’s recipe. And Babas means dad. So he brought this um Palestinian recipe and, and we got to take it and, and grow it ourselves.
So you guys are Middle Eastern and then of course, this is Mediterranean. So it’s a nice mix. So tell us about the restaurant. I saw the video. Just beautiful. Yeah. Yeah, we’re very excited to be able to share that every day.
We, we did really well at the fair and people love the hummus bowls and uh men, which is an Arabic flatbread. And we were just really excited to be able to take it to an everyday level where people could have it every single day with coffee and unique Palestinian authentic dishes. Ok.
And where is the restaurant? It’s right off 22nd and Lyndale Avenue. And how long has it been open? We opened in August just about. So it’s not. Ok. So now you’re gonna cook for me because I’m so excited. So what did you have frying here? So we got some falafel.
I’m gonna put that back in here and just give it a little extra deep fry and then we’re gonna make a Yes, yes. So I’m gonna be um showing you guys how to make the super green hummus.
So this is one of our most popular dishes at the, at the restaurant and it is a herbie take on our traditional hummus. So, here’s all the ingredients and I’m just gonna start putting them into the blender here for you have to start with chickpeas. Yeah.
So we go, so it’s really gonna start with our traditional recipe with the Tahini. You let me know when this needs to come up to it. Yeah. Just give it about 30 seconds. We got some Tahini in there. Everything is gonna be a high quality. We got our salt
And then all the herbs we got mint. It’s a lot of hummus. It’s OK. Look at the spinach. Oh and the cilantro OK. OK. And then what? Lemon juice and then we got some lemon juice in here. Can I pop? You can pop that up? Oh These look so good.
Yeah. So those are gonna be our Chris is coming in. Let’s go. All right. So, so I’m just gonna pulse this. We already got one ready to go so we can top that up and show you guys kind of how we end. Top it up. So pretty what you have over there? Beautiful.
So here’s the super green hummus and we’re gonna top it off with some edamame. So everything in here is gonna be a nice fresh, perfect for the spring summer. Look how pretty that is. We got an herb green, very, very green. That’s what it’s
Called. We got the super green and then we got some pistachios that, so you call this all love, right? All love, all love. And that’s your favorite, right? Oh, my gosh. It belongs to look how pretty that is. So, then you sort of live with this, right. I turned it off.
Oh, beautiful. Yeah. And we top this with some falafel. Oh, my goodness. And I love these little flatbreads are so cute. So, almost all of this you can get in a retail store as well. And this is the other flatbread that people love. And then what’s that called? Again? This one’s called Lamed
Bag. So it’s a uh very good Christopher. So what’s in there? So this is a spiced ground beef. Um on top of a flatbread, it’s in a cooked in a brick oven and then you got onions, cilantro parsley.
Oh my goodness. You have to go see this guy. You have to go see your place. Congratulations to you and your sister. It’s wonderful. And if you wanna buy local hummus that’s inside stores across the country. You gotta buy this, buy it. All right, Baba Thomas uh
Is the house is located at Linda Avenue in Minneapolis and you can find the, this recipe which is so nice that you offered it to us. And also you can find Hummus and grocery stores all over the country and the link is on carole.com and we love it. We’re so excited. Thank
