I get breakfast burritos at this joint called Alibertos Jr and they always serve this red sauce in these little cups. Pretty spicy, fairly runny, doesn’t really taste like any salsa or hot sauce I’ve had before. Some people tell me there is oil in it, but I’ve got no clue.

Flavors are very rich and very deep, like the polar opposite of a lot of fresh tomato salsas I’ve had before. In fact, I’m not even sure if tomato’s are involved here.

I’ve tried like 6 different versions of regular tomato salsa Roja, nothing comes remotely close. They all taste way too tomatoey and “fresh” like a salad. Doesn’t taste anything like tobasco, tapatio, nothing like that.

What is this and how can I make it
