I’ve lost a whole ton of weight in my life (and gained it back, working on that now!) and I wholeheartedly stand by the simple act of counting calories, familiarizing yourself with meals and calories, and working within your TDEE limit, with a handful of exceptions to keep you sane, and 3-4 cardio sessions per week that last about an hour (400-600 calories burned ea).

You didn’t ask, but I suggest salads. There are so many amazing salads you can make with little dressing. My favorite is with tuna, apples, onions, and a small serving of balsamic dressing.

If this is filling enough for you, that’s great. Just be careful with extreme dieting; it’s a slippery slope. I tried dieting and I ended up gaining weight from it. My dietician told me I was eating so little that my body went into starvation mode and had to compensate.

I know not everyone can cook but there are ways to make good food healthy. For example, if I want a burger, I use 96% lean and put it on keto buns, which in my opinion are better than regular buns. It’s just a couple points. I roast veggies for a full meal. The keto brand buns are the best. Or I make chicken fajitas and either use low cab/calorie tortillas or better yet, I eat it in a sweet potato. The chicken and peppers are 0 points. I make pizza and use half the dough and half of the pizza is only equivalent to 2 slices. I load it with veggies. I’m not compromising on taste and enjoyment. Cut out fats and unnecessary items. Today I cooked chicken breast, cut up romaine lettuce, black beans, corn, tomato, avocado, black olives, and onion. I ate it with salsa for a 2 point lunch.

I lost around 40 pounds in 7 or 8 months of Weight Watchers. It definitely gives you quick results BUT W.W. pretty much only focuses on low fat. I felt so guilty just touching a slice of cheese lol. Imho that’s nothing you can keep up long term so the weight might come back. No ingredient should be demonised, it’s about having more of the good stuff, less of the bad. That’ll change your body composition and give you long term results. Again, no hate for WW!
That’s a lot of carbs and you’re going to be hungry too. Put more protein and animal fat with a side of veggies.

Sardines are super underrated, and very tasty for a nutritious food! Stay positive and choose to be grateful that you can eat that; It could always be worse you could be on a liquid diet. I was there as a small child and I still remember how awful that was for a time.
This isn’t a dress-down, but a very forward pep-talk. You are almost at a month, and that is the first big step towards building strong life-changing habits. I am proud of you, internet stranger; keep it going and pay it forward in the future when you encounter people struggling with day one!

I sincerely hope you’re not in America, because they load our shit up with high-fructose corn syrup. This stuff is practically designed to get you addicted while slowly deteriorating your health. You have now been warned.
