My parents had this stashed away in a dark cupboard, they don’t drink so they told me to take it. What do I do with it?
I got a Schrodingers cat situation going on here 😑

Find something to celebrate and share with a friend.
I’d recommend getting some friend chicken with it.

Good Christ. My bet is, it’s good.
Bubbles+ high acidity+dark cupboard+legendary vintage+legendary producer = probably fantastic in my book.
Please drink and repost with notes.

Between eat it and drink it, I’d say drink it.

Excellent vintage.

I had a magnum of that vintage and it had been stored horribly. It was magnificent. Enjoy your good fortune!!

I’ve had good luck with “older” champagne with questionable storage. I think it’ll be more advanced (stewed fruit, caramel, yogurty notes) but should still be fun. Have a back-up bottle in case it’s trash.
If you want to sell it there are places like Unicorn Auction that don’t check provenance and sell everything as-is. You could probably get $300+ for it, minus shipping.

Insane vintage. I can smell and taste the nutty brioche and feel the tiny beads. Will go a longer way but it’s gotta be so good now.

Pretty sure 1996 was one of the best vintages in champagne for the past 30+ years.

If you like champagne and high end champagne, drink it on a nice occasion. If you prefer other celebratory drinks sell this and buy a lot of those 🙂

Fucking yum. Enjoy this!

You drink it, of course, preferably with friends. And then you tell us all about it, with tasting notes, so that we can live vicariously through your good fortune.

At the risk of sharing too much about myself, I only drink to taste and understand tasting notes. I’m currently on the waitlist for a new kidney so I can’t indulge unfortunately.
No one in my family drinks, so I’ll likely bring this bottle into work where my coworkers will very much appreciate it (they’ve been spoiled already with the wines from my previous post with the 4 bottles from 1947). Gonna be a good week for them I suppose.
Either way I will definitely taste and do my best to describe the experience
