    The plate inside is just a weight for the corned beef 5 pounder squeezed in there, cooks in just water , garlic, bay leaves, onion and the seasoning packet no veggies for 11 hours. Then remove the corned beef and transfer the water to a pot, add potatoes cook at a medium high simmer for 20 minutes then add tbe carrots and cabbbage cook for another 20. While the veggies cook trim any excessive fat off the corned beef (or leave it if you like) and then mix brown sugar and spicy brown mustard coat the corned beef and bake on a sheet pan at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, yearly go to recipe, also the long cook with no vegetables helps get the corned beef very tender and helps remove any extra saltiness out of the meat

    I just had to toss mine that was identical to that one…. got it as a shower gift 35 years ago :(((
