Today we went to a beautiful place called Shkoder from the capital city of Albania, Tirana. We enjoyed the mountain ranges and the fort over it, huge Shkoder lake that looked like a sea and the beautiful city. A well spent day. You can experience nice Albanian food too. I too have been thinking since long of doing something and all I cannot fast. But I shall do another thing I am going to avoid eating non-veg for at least 1 month I am going to avoid eating meat for a month I have decided to have only vegetables and eggs

I cannot avoid eggs since I travel a lot. I need proteins Otherwise I will have to starve without breakfast So I am going to shift to eggs and vegetables Let me see how long can I go like this and the changes my body will show

Welcome to a new video of Tech Travel Eat I didnt come on time. I became late Not me, but Fazil was late He woke up late It wasnt my fault Today we are going to Shkodra with Agron.

Shkodra is 100km away from here and shares its border with Montenegro Agron was born there We are going to that city now. We see more of villages on the way. When you leave the city, you know what the country really is

You see normal or poor person’s houses Fazilbro, I feel the same like I did when I traveled in North Indian villages It reminds me of my journey from Lucknow to other villages It was sunny all this time.

Now all of a sudden it began to rain with thunder and lightning too We are entering Shkoder city. This is Shkoder castle A fort up there I think we are going that side now We are very close to the country Montenegro We are driving up a mountain now

We are first going to see Shkodra fort It is on top of a mountain Before going to Shkodra castle, let me tell you about the place What you see far there is Shkodra City

On this side you have Shkodra Lake. If you look at the map you will know its a big lake It is the biggest lake in Balkan countries What you see from here is just an end of it. This lake is spread in two countries, here and Montenegro too

A huge lake you see in Albania and Montenegro You can see lot of mountains on this side You can see a ruined mosque that they are rebuilding again I think many mosques were demolished during communism period That was during Enver Hoxha’s time Heard he was very strict

There is a beautiful valley down there and the Shkodra city is at the banks of the lake You will be surprised to know how old this Shkodra fort is It is 2300 years old! It is said to have been built in BC300 era

Nobody was able to find out the exact details of it From the saved documents they have here, they say it is during BC 300. Many people including Ottoman, Byzantine and many more have ruled here This is a historic place in Albania

We paid 400 Lek and took tickets. Now let us go inside The path is made of stones. Lets walk up It is slightly slippery Thats because it had rained He ran up Agron was born here. He shifted to Tirana in 1991

Looks beautiful from here How about going to Montenegro? It is close by That would be great. In that case we would touch another country too We have got inside the fort now.

This fort is very very old. Ottoman empire etc came long after that It seems before they came, this fort was controlled by Illyrian tribes Later Roman empire came in Then came Byzantine empire Kingdom of Serbia rules for a while and then came Serbian empires

Ottoman empire and Montenegro took after after years Now finally it is in the hands of Albania It has been built using limestone and bricks It is already cold outside and when you get inside here, it is even more cold

Can see water dripping from here and there. I think its due to the limestone Have you heard about the country Yugoslavia? Yugoslavia became no more in 1991-92 Albania was there long back itself. Yugoslavia was split to other neighbouring countries you have here

Even today, Serbia and Kosova have a border dispute issue Kosovo has not accepted Serbia as a country Its just like in Morocco and Western Sahara Same issues are there in neighbouring countries here too They believe that there was a Venetian Catholic church here during 12th century

We can see the ruins of that here and there History says that in 15th century, after Ottoman Empire captured this city That church was then converted to Fatih Sultan Mehmet mosque later Forts are built almost the same style all over the world

This one also have a huge compound wall, It is on top of a mountain and at a strategic location A huge and beautiful fort You have view points and places where cannons are placed too This is a beautiful fort You can see a river that originates from Shkodra lake

It is called Buna river. The colour of the water is so beautiful The water is greenish in colour. You can see the top of mountain covered in clouds Beautiful If it was sunny, it would have been more beautiful. Can see small bridges there

We can see a beautiful view of the city from here You can see the mountains, city, lake, river etc from here Beautiful place We would have missed this if we had not come here I am a vlogger

Now we are at the top of the fort This was the mosque A mosque that was built during Ottoman Empire’s time. Demolishing churches and building mosques were there ages back too We are able to know that we go deep into the history of each place

They have written lots about these in English and their native language History about the place is given here This fort is divided as 1st yard, 2nd yard etc A beautiful place where you can take photos from any side There is a souvenir shop in here

There a lot of old tombs here Nothing written about this area A small area where creeper plants have grown all over Can see water dripping too This is the only building that looks finished here in this fort Rest are all ruined and damaged

We can see snow on top of that mountain He is asking if we have acrophobia No.. we dont have acrophobia, but we are feeling hungry That is the place where two rivers join together We had come this way

Drin river this side and Buna river that side joins together here Beautiful. You have green and blue shades here You can see a ruined bridge there and the new one next to it Can see a crusher there Lot of big and small mosques, churches and houses too

No rails here. If you dont be careful, you will fall down I thought is was and earthen where water was filled But this is a tunnel like Looks like a flower vase from outside But it is something else inside down there There is a cafe here

It is not a souvenir shop but just a cafe Chips that is like our rusk Shall take one Take this to have Looks good. I am seeing this for the first time. A restaurant made inside a cave feeling

You have a view point spot here too These are places to take photos You can take photos from here if you want You have to pay 1 Euro to take photos from here

We shall sit here and have tea enjoying the beauty of the city I never expected this place to be so beautiful We saw the fort. Now we are going back We walked up and now are going down the same way

Now let us go to the city here A beautiful building. Look at the colour. The old buildings are all made during communism era The new buildings have all come after 1992 That is Ebu Beker mosque. Just behind that, you can see an orthodox Christian church

You have orthodox churches, roman churches, mosques etc all close by here Looks like a high street in this city A beautiful mosque We have parked our car in front of the mosque Agron looks great now

Can see an Albanian Hummer there This is an amazing vehicle People in the Gulf would be seeing it often It has a grand look and is huge too Even the tyres are so big

If you want, we shall take a pic. No need We are at the high street of Shkodra Albania is a place where they dont have any religion barriers I am speaking about the present situation. Earlier they had issues That is hotel Colosseo A beautiful mosque.

Mosques here are a bit different. Can understand seeing the Minaret The building behind was built during communism era People in Europe cycle a lot They use bicycles for all their needs 2 great people were born in this city Mother Teresa and Agron

Agron comes up with super dialogues in between. Pretty Albanian women coming from our opposite side Let us walk through the high street for some time You see the best buildings of a place at the high street of that city

You see colourful and beautiful buildings here Let us walk and see what all are here It rained in the morning. Now the sky is clear So now the visuals taken are awesome A shop that sells only bras Lingerie shop

Look at that Burger King building Doesnt that look beautiful? A new painted Burger King building As it becomes summer, you see more of people sitting outside and eating People have already started sitting outside now This restaurant looks beautiful

The high street here is more beautiful than the one we saw at Tirana People are smoking and eating here This is a club, country club, Agron says according to history, earlier Christians stayed at the right side and Muslims stayed at the left side.

Maybe that’s why we saw church on this side and mosque on that side The building looks beautiful All the buildings share one side wall. They are joined My shoes got wet walking over water It is crowded in the afternoon now Look at the crowd in the afternoon

How would it be in the evening then? Nobody is to be seen inside the restaurant. All are sitting outside. We walked from that end to this end. All these places are filled in vibe Shkodra is just 1.5-2hrs drive from Tirana

You can come here by bus too. There isnt any train connectivity here We had seen trams in Tirana but not metro You can come by bus or taxi or any vehicle Lot of hotels and hostels are available for a stay to explore the city

Albania is a nice touristic place. Very few Indians visit this place From where all can you fly down to reach here? From Abu Dhabi Wizz Air is the cheapest. You will need a transit visa to Abhu Dhabi

You can take Indigo and then take Turkish Airlines from Istanbul and come too Even that is a good option There is a museum here Indians can easily take e-visa It is affordable and not very expensive too

Let it be e-visa or tourist visa, you will get it in 2 weeks Procedures to come here are very simple I feel this place is better than visiting Georgia and other places that side It is a new country for many

The difference is that people in GCC can get On Arrival Visa there. But here they need a visa But if you have a UK or US or Schengen multiple entry visa and have used it once, Then you dont need an e-visa That is how we came.

We entered with out Schengen visa You can come if you have Schengen or UK visa It is a very nice tourist place People here are very friendly and you dont find any cheat or robbery here May happen, but as of now nothing like that.

Including Turkey and most of the tourist places have robbery But I havent seen or heard of such here The mosque is over there While walking, we saw wooden souvenirs of Shkodra in a bicycle shape Everybody here uses bicycles We bought one of that

Saw a wooden souvenir of Mother Teresa and bought one of that too We can say that we came to Mother Teresas hometown and bought a souvenir I had given 5000 Lek at that shop to get back change I got all the currency denominations now

We were taking photos from outside Suddenly the shopkeeper came with a 100 Lek coin I had forgotten to take it from there. It is around 100 INR He came and gave that to me. He could have kept it an not given too

But as I said, people here are very good. A building named Opportunity. Can see a statue of Mother Teresa in front and a solar panel too A person selling flowers on the street A play area for kids in the middle of the road

Lot of souvenir and book stores here You can buy nice colourful souvenirs A beautiful restaurant here Few grandpas standing in front. They look so handsome Doesnt the person with the hat look like the person we met at Cuba? The streets are all paved with stones

You have restaurants around. Can see people sitting and having food there Lot of trees all around but none has leaves. Leaves are yet to grow. It is the end of winter now and summer to start soon When you come little interior, you see the old city side

Houses have huge gates like we have in temples You have tall compound walls and creepers grown over them A traditional passage It is an old street which is a residential area This is a traditional house Looks similar to the ones you see at Ladakh

You see the same at Ladakh too Compound walls made of bricks and the ceiling is done with stones The roof with stones and then bricks You see all that here I loved this street. It is filled with vibe Buildings look awesome. Even the people are good

It is better than Tirana and a less expensive tourist place too Albania is very affordable compared to the other European countries See how beautiful these streets are I love this This is a government office You can see a park in front of it

Small stupas in front of the park This one looks like an Egyptian mummy and a stupa behind that There is a mosque behind there Lot of beautiful mosques here Beautiful churches too Nice vibe out here My phone fell down and the screen card broke

I got into a mobile shop and asked for 14 pro max screen card He said it was 500 Lek and I said ok 500 Lek is less than 400 INR In UK I will have to pay at least 10 pounds and in India its more expensive

Screen cards are rated as per the phone Since I am a tourist, they could have charged me more He could have done that It may be lesser and he charged me more. I dont know A good man. He was speaking in English.

He asked where I was from, am I a tourist, many ask if we liked Albania People are very friendly. They speak a lot to us. Isnt this Yamaha MIT? I had taken license in this. But now you dont see these

Earlier if you drove this on the track, you could go 8 correctly and return It would go only in the shape of 8 and not straight properly All that has changed now. I am against only one thing now

There should be an automatic car license too like in all the countries Now a person driving automatic should drive a manual car People driving gear-less should drive one with gear Women are finding it difficult. Even men are opting automatic vehicles now We went to the mosque and came

A beautiful peaceful mosque Looks like a newly renovated mosque Inside looked beautiful Some speech was going on in there Could see some paintings too. The interiors looked somewhat like in Hagia Sophia mosque. Now we shall go to the next place

Agron is driving by the side of Shkoder lake in full speed and drifting It is cloudy again. Beautiful place like Lake Baikal This is fresh water. Buna river flows from here to the sea The weather has changed suddenly. It has become very cold too

We have come to a place where lot of tourists visit Nice to see the lake. It looks like a sea You cannot see the land on the other side It really looks like a sea It is very windy

We have reached a beautiful place but the weather is bad A lake that looks like a sea They have done this so that nobody brings their car beyond this Nobody should park their cars there This is some fort

We are driving beside the fort We are driving up the mountain that has a building up there We are going to have food. Buildings here remind me of those in Himachal Pradesh There are many like these in Himachal and Ladakh A nice building made of wood.

A beautiful place and nice view from here An awesome restaurant. Nice aroma as soon as we got in Albanian music played in here Can feel the smell of pine wood you see here We ordered food What a beautiful view

This is the opposite side view of what we saw from the fort The fort we visited is on that mountain We had seen these places from that fort People are waiting to know when Ramadan starts. Today or tomorrow

That is why we have come to have food Fazil and all will begin to fast from tomorrow Our salads are here Brinjal and cheese 3 kinds of cabbages We had eaten this yesterday A stuffed yogurt dish These are dips like mayonnaise

Lot of them in here Lot of salads and vegetables Bread, vegetables, another thing soaked in yogurt Yes. That is corn bread. We had eaten that last day Let’s start Nice vegetable soup

If you go to such a restaurant in our place, wouldn’t it be expensive? But here it is not. Just 200 Lek for these C So many items. Fish soup for Fazilbro Lots to eat What all vegetables do they serve here

It is not difficult to shift to a vegetarian Argon is ordering lot of food for us This is boiled potatoes They have cheese included in many of their dishes Soup tastes awesome. Lemon juice added to it made it taste amazing

Our main course has come. This is Risotto It is rice with lot of vegetables Carrot, tomato, capsicum, mushroom, cucumber etc.. He had hot steaming food and burnt his mouth Even this is Risotto with sea food and vegetables in it.

Agron has ordered goat meat with potatoes. Boiled potatoes taste awesome. Can be eaten without any dressing He has octopus and prawns in it. In our place, its somewhat like the potrice you get in hotels Let me try this out. Looks yummy Smells awesome

Your seafood aroma is tempting me Its not hot. Have it. Good Very tasty It is an Italian dish Hot.. We had lot of food and everything was tasty Bill came to 5300Lek

That is around 4500 INR That is affordable for 3 in such a restaurant What is our next plan? Let’s go to the next country Little show off.. 20mts from here and we reach Montenegro

We have our passport with us. Shall go to the beach city there Shall go to the coastal city, have tea and come back We told Agron that we shall go to Montenegro

I guess we shall show you our trip to Montenegro to have tea in the next episode Todays video is quite long Like we say going to have tea from Ooty, we are going to Montenegro to have tea All these are possible because we have Schengen visa
