Thought I’d give a shout-out to one of my favourite chocolate shops, Onyx Chocolates, in Chinatown East, just east of Broadview.

The owner is a nice guy. He told me business was a little slow recently, aside from Christmas and Valentines Day. Granted, their location is a little off the beaten track, and they’re not cheap, but their chocolates are amazing.

I especially like that he experiments with interesting flavours. Durian isn’t for everyone (and he always asks me if I’m sure I want that one) but I like it. Then there are the more accessible, but still interesting flavours, like Raspberry Lichee, Banana Caramel, Thai Tea, Guava Hibiscus, Tangerine Jasmine, etc.

The flavours aren’t artificial either. They’re the real deal, so you really taste the thai tea, and the coconut pandam, the sour cherry hojicha, and the kinako mochi. When I feel like treating myself to some chocolates it’s always an amazing tasting journey.
