These are great value, they sell for 2 euros here in France (so, 5 euros per kg).
As far as I understood (although I may be oversimplifying), pilchards are adult sardines. So, I have found them to be more firm, meaty, and dense than (regular) sardines. Still very tasty though.
I prepared these with chipotles and eggs for a hearty lunch.
