Seller wants $350 for ‘like new’ Weber Genesis II (335?) Seems like great condition to me. I’m a newbie, so any thoughts?

It’s filthy. New grills aren’t filthy. I’d get him to clean it up a bit first.
Gas grills generally have replaceable parts that are easily acquired and are somewhat universal. If the drip plates and burners are too crudded up, you can find replacements, and then your grill will be in a condition closer to “like new.”

No.

I wouldn’t pay 150 to clean someone else mess when they say like new. For that price get yourself a new grill.
QuickExtension6172
No way. Offer $100
m1stergutsy
Consensus is, no. Obviously it’s dirty but I guess I don’t have a clue of how difficult the cleaning would be, or how much use it’s had. My initial thought was looking at it as a $900 grill (according to Costco) for a steep discount that needs a little bit of work. Research shows basically everything can be replaced, and these should last a very long time. However, it now seems like I am missing something?
lord_khadgar05
Offer a counter offer around $250… if you’re stuck cleaning it, you shouldn’t be paying that much.
logan_fish
Not “like new”.

I understand everyone’s annoyance with claiming it is ‘like new’ when it looks like it has been used for years without any regular maintenance.
However, if all the hoses and tubes are in good condition and there are no chips or serious ware on the the grates or other internal parts…that is a $500ish savings compared to buying the same grill new. The real problem is that you may not be able to spot some of the issues until you get down in there and scrape out the caked on grease.
IamNotYourPalBuddy
If it’s just dirty, I’d absolutely buy it at that price! You can’t go wrong with a Weber.
FloppyVachina
Say most you can offer is 150$, he may not take it at first but not many people buy dirty used grills so he may call you back.
Iliyan61
defo not like new and used but it looks decent and it’s a nice grill
check it out in person and see what’s up…
also consider how much are you willing to spend/gamble on this if it turns out to be a dud/need work
jeanmichd
It’s like new according to the seller? Seriously? Not even clean it for the pictures at this price? We obviously don’t have the same values. Next….
Prior_Macaroon1415
Total rip off. I just re built mine for $250.00. That looks old.
Alarmed_Flight_2839
Without seeing the burners or flavorizer bars, I’d take a pass. That’s probably where all the damage is
Logical_Function_576
I don’t think the price is that far off. I’d aim to get it for 200-250 given it’s dirty. It’s a 3 burner with sear station and side burner. Looks like stainless (but filthy) grates based on design but confirm. Also I’d want to make sure burners work and that there aren’t rust issues. It’s an $800 grill new and is way nicer than anything in the few hundred dollar price range.
Grand_Neat27
It will cost them $150 for them to throw it out. Tell them once they sit on it for the next 6 months to call you. You will do them a favor by hauling it away for free.
Lost-Pickle4669
That ain’t like new with rust on it.
Temporary-Mine-1030
As long as it works, $350 is a great price. I have the same grill, bought a couple years ago from Home Depot during winter for $650 when it was $1100 regularly. Mine gets dirty easy too, but easy to clean with some Dawn.
cropguru357
I’m at $100.

There’s so many bad takes here supporting buying this.
Keep in mind Webers are worth money because they last a long time and they have a warranty. You don’t get the warranty with a marketplace grill. You also don’t get the longevity as it’s probably any where between 5 and 10 years old.
This also doesn’t look anywhere close to “like new” to me. This isn’t a grill that was built and never left a garage. The picture doesn’t look good so I’m gonna assume in person it looks worse, especially if you take off the grate and look at the condition of the burners. My guess is the owner is claiming “like new” MAYBE cause they didn’t use it much?
Also, Cleaning this to get this from a used condition to a state I would feel comfortable using and eating food cooked on will take time. A lot of time. It’s probably a full 8 hour job to do it properly. You will also need to pay for cleaning supplies and potentially parts if stuff is rusted out or broken inside, this will likely cost you another $50-$100. I don’t know what you value your time for cleaning at but if I include that in my value calculation along with supplies and assume no parts I might as well just buy a brand new one.
All things considered I think $100 is fair for a project if you’re happy to spend the time. More than that and you’re just paying a premium for someone else’s junk. If you’re on a budget you’ll probably get more bang out of your buck buying a cheap new one than paying $350 for this dirty mess.
dadd5450
Yea go buy a new one for that price.
Ptbo_hiker
You can buy a new one for that
eBohmerManJenson
It looks pretty well used, most likely 3-5 years old. The real question is what fuel type it uses. The guard below the side burner means it is most likely LP, but if it is NG and you do not have NG the grill is worthless to you.
snipes81
No comment on the price, but I wouldn’t trust anyone who claims that is *like new*. I mean, isn’t like new supposed to mean, it looks brand new, but isn’t?
wildcat12321
Not sure it is “like new” but it looks like great condition. Everyone saying “offer $100” may not know your market. In my area, 350 would be a very fair price for that grill, and I’d take it in heartbeat over the $1000 of buying new.
nicorangerbaby
“like new” BS, wouldn’t have all that carbon build up bet he never cleaned it yuk!
marcone87
For what it’s worth, I have the same grill and keep it covered all winter and it looks the same before any deep cleaning. Mine is three years old, works fine every time and new was 800$ if I recall.
NJS1993
A lot of people on here are delusional and entitled. Thats a $1,000+ Weber with no exterior rust. Inside looks like it could use a cleaning, but why are people so afraid to put a little elbow grease into a good deal? This thing needs a scrub to the grates and some stainless cleaner on the exterior. Give me 30 mins and I can make this thing look brand new. I did it for my Genesis II & my WSM that I bought on Marketplace.
Its a Weber, clean it up and it will likely outlast you. What cant be cleaned can be replaced fairly cheap, and it comes with a 10yr warranty and its likely never been registered. Take advantage of that and register it.
Lumpy-Hamster-3937
I just bought that grill at Costco new for $799. Warehouse only price
Mr_TP_Dingleberry
The grates arent original. Any rust in the floor of the cabinet?
