The Wolfe Pit makes a super fast, simple and delicious one dish casserole. Chicken, vegetables and rice combined together, topped with lots of cheese and baked until golden!

Hey everybody Welcome to the wolf pit hey tonight we’re going to do um a roasted chicken and rice dish not really sure where this is going yet uh but what we’re going to do first is go ahead and get the um the chicken roasted of course and um so what we’re

Going to do is go ahead and start separating this all right once we get this all uh separated we’re going to go ahead and uh season it with some wol rub Citrus here and and we’re just going to liberally season this and I’m not worried about the skin

On this chicken like I um it’s going to be pulled apart and um mixed in with some rice and vegetables and probably some cheese as well so we’re going to thoroughly season this there we go all right we got whole chicken cut up two breasts two legs two

Thighs four pieces of wings this this brand branded chicken they they go ahead and um they remove the wing tips um this is an organic chicken by the way and I’m I I’m totally addicted to these things they’re it’s the best chicken you’ll ever eat I think you pay a little bit

More for it but you don’t get any additional crap in it and um they butcher it well and you know I can’t say enough about it but anyway what I’m going to do now is put a piece of foil over this after wash my hands and I’m going put it

Into a 350° oven for roughly an hour and just until all the chicken’s done um and it can be minimally done too it doesn’t have to be fully cooked cuz like I said we’re going to pull it apart mix it in with some rice and vegetables and cheese

And then bake it so that that process would finish cooking it but okay here’s the chicken after it’s been in the oven for about an hour and 15 minutes 315° 350° and we’re going to go ahead and let this cool off and we’re going to pull it

All off the bone drain some of the grease and go from there okay now we got our chicken pulled out and we got it all cubed up and I poured off almost all the grease here and the liquid from the chicken so now we have

Uh say maybe a cup maybe not I mean not a cup but maybe about a half a cup of U fat and liquid left I’m going add two bullon cubes into this let these melt down and then we’re going to make a little bit of Rue and make a simple gravy

All right now now that the bullion has dissolved we’re going to go ahead and make a just a simple R here we don’t want to really darken the flour too much so we’re going to add in we’re going to start off with about 1/4 cup of

Flour stir this in and if we need more We’ll add more here in a second okay so now I’m going to go ahead and slowly start adding in some uh lukewarm water do not add cold water to this okay there we go our gravy is done it’s

Nice and thick we’re going to go ahead and remove this from the pan and then start adding our rice chicken and vegetables okay here we go we got our our pan that the chicken was cooked in and then we made our gravy in left a little bit of gravy down there in the

Bottom now we’re going to go ahead and add in some rice okay now we got a bed of rice down and we’re going to go ahead and add in some chicken okay now we’re going to add in some Frozen mixed vegetables just another layer on top of

This use what oh just use whatever kind of vegetables you like put some more rice on top of this now right now we got our second layer of rice on there now we’re going to add the rest of the chicken all right now we’re going to

Cover this up with foil and put it into a 350° oven for 30 minutes the chicken the vegetables and the rice have been cooking in the foil for about 30 minutes now we’re going to go ahead and add some cheese on top of that all right now I’m going to put that back

In the oven until the cheese is nice and golden brown and bubbly and we’ll be ready to eat all right there we go our chicken cheese rice and vegetables are done we’re going to go ahead and get a wedge out here hold on just hold right

There all right now we’re going to top this off with a little bit of the gravy you saw this make in the beginning slowly Ladle this over top here and I’ve got to say myself that looks pretty dag on good so let’s go ahead and dig in here and

Get a little bite see if we can find a piece of chicken in here there we go Chicken vegetables rice cheese how can you go wrong here we go well don’t mean too molon horn but that’s actually pretty dag going good it’s almost like a a popey with a little

Bit of rice in it the gravy is what makes this without the gravy it still be good but with the gravy it’s just Bonkers I guess I don’t know but I’m going to go ahead and eat and thank you guys very much for watching and we’ll see you next [Applause] time

  1. Dang bro you just keep pumpin out fantastic dish ideas……im having a hard time keeping up! LOL I hope all is well bro and my best to you as always!

  2. I love me some casserole dishes and that one looked awesome. I'm a cheese-a-holic too, so that was making me drool. Fine job sir!

  3. It looks killer! And the gravy is what brings it together.

Reminds me… I need to make a batch of the citrus rub. Would you believe I haven't tried it yet?

  4. I love one pot/pan meals. I like to make meals that LOOK good, and make for a great presentation, but simplicity usually wins out. That's why I love soups, chili and stews. Just give me a bowl full of guuuuuuuuuuuudness, a big spoon and stand back.

  5. I just remembered *why* I hadn't made it. I had to order the citrus spices and never got around to it. Just now paid a visit to the Spice Barn and placed an order. They look like a pretty reputable bunch, and certainly a huge selection. As soon as the order gets here, I'll have no further excuse. LOL

  6. Update: Got the shipment from Spice Barn today. Great first impression! I ordered late evening on the 30th, it was on FedEx's truck the next morning, and it was at my front door this morning. Excellent products, too! I ordered a few other things I needed, and I'm impressed, both by quality and prices.

A-n-y-w-a-y… Whipped up up a batch of Citrus rub, tried it on some chicken thighs tonight, and I absolutely love it! Why am I not surprised? LOL

  7. I have seen other recipes where they put all the raw ingredients in the oven together. Is there a reason why you cooked everything separately?
Other than that really liked your video good job! (:

  8. If I had gravy already made and de-boned chicken, I would have then done it all together. Either way will work, depending on what ya have handy! Thank you for watching!

  9. Definitely agree. That would make for a perfect Pot Pie filling. In case you didn't already know. I am watching all your videos from oldest to newest as I have time. – Chef Jeff

  10. Folks, if you are short on time, and you need to stop at the grocer on the way home from work, pick up a rotissure chichen if your grocer has them, easy to pull when you get home, saves the cook prep on the chix.

  11. You know it's going to be good when the video starts with "I dont know where I'm going with this." Usually those journeys are the tastiest! And this looks good

  12. A wolf it you should have focused in there at the end man the thing was you couldn't even see the picture of it was so distorted nice job keep up the good work
