So you want good take out fried rice we’re gonna spend eight dollars when you can make all of this for about five dollars that’s like a dollar per serving that’s but cheaper Fried rice commonly will get to go take out get delivered but we’re talking anywhere between eight to fifteen maybe even twenty dollars which is just wrong it’s something that can be done with leftovers and it’s extremely extremely cheap and that is why it’s on this episode of butt cheaper

Episode i don’t know yeah hello what episode is it we figured out a way to get it essentially a dollar per portion now with that said that’s if you have the majority of the ingredients if you don’t have any of them meaning you have to buy all the ingredients then it’s going to

Be like 20 for all of it and you’ll then have all that stuff left in your kitchen that are usable through your time being live with all that said let’s make this shall we now look we have an important conversation have despite the fact that

Rice is considered to be one of the most inexpensive ingredients in the world it can also be the greatest part of a meal by simply using proper technique now regardless of how you choose to cook your rice do me a favor and wash your rice i know i’ve complained about it before don’t

Complain about it again so however much rice you’re using get yourself a metal sieve place it over a bowl fill the bowl with water gently agitate in the water drain that water and repeat that one more time oh that actually reminds me the optimal choice for fried rice would

Either be a medium grain or jasmine rice or my personal preference which would be a short grain rice like sushi rice saying rice so much i might as well just count the amount of times that i say it so the first and most obvious method of cooking would be

A rice cooker it massively reduces the chance of air and cooks rice perfect every time it’s usually going to be about a one to one ratio of rice to water you’ll put your rinsed rice in your water close the lid and well just press the start button and if you have the same

Model as mine you get to enjoy the song of its people now once that’s done fluff it up with a spoon and you have beautifully cooked rice now the second method is considered a mortal sin by many people which is rice in a pot to make that you’ll get

Yourself a medium sized pot with a lid add in one cup or 200 grams of cleaned rice and top with one and a half cups or 350 milliliters of water place it on the stove set the heat to medium high bring it to a boil then reduce

Immediately to a simmer cover it with a lid and let it lightly simmer for 15 minutes then remove it from the heat and let it steam an additional 15 minutes you pop that lay it off flip that boy up and well that’s rice now the last and

Final method and this is like if you just are praying for some other method of cooking rice you don’t have a pot but maybe you have a baking dish get yourself an eight by eight baking dish and you’re gonna add one cup or 200 grams of cleaned rice spread it out nicely

Separately bring 2 cups or 475 grams of water to a vigorous boil then pour your boiling water over your rice cover it tightly with foil place it in the oven at 375 fahrenheit or 190 celsius for 25 to 30 minutes pull it out take off the foil and look

At that you steamed rice in the oven now weird but it works now since fried rice is commonly made with leftover rice i’d actually recommend that you take your rice and then put it in the refrigerator and let it chill completely okay thank you for your patience now

Let’s make our fried rice first let’s begin by making our scrambled egg so get yourself three eggs cracked season it to taste with salt whisk them together and then in a non-stick skillet heat one tablespoon or 14 grams of unsalted butter you can also use oil once that’s

Melted and bubbling add in your three eggs and let that cook over medium heat bringing in the sides occasionally until it’s most of the way cooked give it a little flip let it cook the rest of the way on the other side then place it on a cutting

Board and give it a rough little chop now get yourself a small bowl and to that you’re going to add 1 tablespoon or 14 grams of granulated sugar 3 tablespoons or 42 grams of soy sauce 1 tablespoon or 12 grams of white vinegar give it a little whisk

Three cloves of grated garlic and a one inch knob of grated ginger mix all that together and place to the side next begin heating a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat add in three tablespoons or 42 grams of a high heat cooking oil like vegetable oil once that’s nice and hot

Add one diced carrot let that cook in saute until it’s a little bit soft and starts to color then add in one bunch of green onions this is just the greens that have been sliced into about one inch segments let that cook until those greens get a little bit of color then

Add the whites of those same green onions which have been finely sliced you see we use the whole thing nobody has to cry so let that saute for an additional minute or so then add in 1 cup or 135 grams of frozen peas now look we don’t want to overcook these i’m

Tired of disgusting mushy peas just keep that on high heat and keep stirring just until they’re hot but still poppy then add 4 cups of cooked leftover rice now keep the pan ripping hot while stirring frequently until the rice is nice and hot maybe got a couple little

Crispy bits too then as your soy sauce vinegar mixture turn off the heat and mix it all together once that’s mixed fold in your scrambled egg now at this point you’re done optionally you can season this with sesame oil and of course season it to taste with salt if needed now all this

Put together for one to two dollars per serving i think it’s time for a taste test so fried rice we got it it’s oh little sound one dollar per portion if you want to make a big batch and you live alone you’re single maybe sad that’s fine but it’ll make you

Happy that you didn’t waste money meanwhile somebody’s gonna be like i can just get a panda it’s like three dollars you could go to panda spend time driving there and driving back so that’s gas grand total still more expensive and it sucks this on the other hand for one you made

And you can take pride in that depth of flavor you got to cook a little that’s all i have to say fried rice is cheap as hell but cheaper this is rice this is nice i got diced no no lice rice is nice it’s no expensive it’s very cheap then

But you want to know what else is cheap and full of rice b-roll Okay so we made fried rice dollar per serving or like five six dollars per serving if you had to buy everything which is still cheaper than going out think about think about that for a second so i know that we’ve had like a lot of conversations about whether i should be

In the cabinet off the cabinet this is your final opportunity comment let me know i felt like different series we should be out here i love my people so much i got your little dining set ah if my neighbors are watching through the window they’re like this guy we need

To call the police if you want to see anything on butt cheap or anything at all comment as well so anyway if you enjoyed this video or you learned something leave a like subscribe and i will see you next time You

  1. I think you guys are ignoring the fact that I condemned every other method of cooking rice that ISN'T in my Zojirushi rice cooker. But because this is but cheaper I gave other options because you ALWAYS complain about expensive equipment. IF I didn't give those other options then the top comments would be "OMIGOSH JOSH REEEEEE THIS IS BUT CHEAPER BUT YOU SPEND 100 DOLLARS ON A RICE COOKER???"

  2. Every time you bring out your zojirushi, I cry remembering my induction 10 cup model that I had to sell before an international move that never happened due to my kid getting cancer(she’s cured now). Sad weird story. I never repurchased all the stuff I sold before the move-that/never-happened but maybe someday I’ll buy it again . Until then, I’ll stick with my instant pot

  3. I really want a good rice cooker, my only options domestically are those trash $15 rice cookers that burn the rice in the bottom, or the same trash cooker but 50% bigger. If I want a good rice cooker, that will cost $500+ including shipping and import taxes. No other options are available in my country. Either you buy the cheapest trash imaginable in small or medium size, or you pay literally hundreds in shipping and import taxes.
I would also have to buy an adapter that changes whatever voltage it’s designed for to 230V 50hz with F type plug

  4. Dude, how does your rice not stick in the rice cooker? Mine always does. Can you help me out pls?

  5. Finally, I've done it. I made a good fried rice, with obtainable materials. thank you papa, ay luv yoo

  6. Rice in a pot? Because most of provinces in the Philippines (Rice centric country) don’t have stable electricity yet almost all grains(bigas) is grown there, rice in a pot over open flame is done to cook rice 🍚

  7. Asian tip: Cooked rice keeps long in the freezer. We're talking 2-3 months depending on quality. If you want to portion out your meals, do so by cooking rice in bulk and portion them according to how much you eat in a single serving. Don't bother using tupperwear, wrap them tightly into a ball with a clingfilm. You can if you want but wrapping them saves more space.

To reheat them, unwrap, serve on plate, and nuke them in the microwave in 1-2 minute intervals. It'll still come out like it was freshly cooked.

  8. How many servings does this make? How many servings should I make to feed 8 people?
    I have a rice cooker but only a 2 cup limit 🙁

  9. omg it looks soooooo delicious, i wanna try it but im such a noob at the kitchen so nope, but still love you

  10. I just made this and it's pretty good. I put a lil to much ginger in but it was still really good! Love your vids josh! Finally met one of my goals and made a dish of yours after watching your channel for awhile! Next up DUMPLINGS!

  11. Jesus Christ died for all of our sins. He died the death we all deserved. He was the perfect one who never sinned once, but he loved us so much he decided to die for us so our sins would be paid for and we can enter the Kingdom of Heaven before God the Father blamelessly. He is the living son of God who wants to know us and have a personal relationship with us. No matter what you have done no matter how far gone you think you are Jesus can and will save you. All you have to do is confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior. Believe that he died on the cross for your sins and had a bodily resurrection 3 days later. We cannot be saved by our works but by faith in Christ alone. Repent and turn to Christ. You will have joy, happiness, love, and peace beyond understanding.

  12. It’s biblical in scope how humanity lived in sin and cooked rice in pots for thousands of years before the salvation of fuzzy logic cookers arrived in the 1980s

  13. listen guys, u heard this from an asian. cook your rice with a rice cooker. even a small one is fine. it's gonna be much better than in the most expensive pan in the world. u can get those in under 25 bucks or in my country there's one that only cost 20 dollars. i know u may not use it much but cmon. it's so much better. u can even use it for other things for example making brownies, cake, even cook a whole chicken if u wanted too XD

  14. Great video!! I'm a "mortal sin" rice cooker. I'm old and shake my fist at rice cookers. Although……they look very nice and I might purchase one in the near future.

  15. mf have an aple microwave, josh is now basicly flexing on us by having an excuse for making a cooking video

  16. bro u wanna make it better but cheaper, just move to india, but never say that the second way of cooking rice you showed is wrong because that is the indian way. the third way is just very dumb and it is a mortal sin, because how do u not have a pot/pan

  17. I wish I had all Papas tips when I was studying. I would have saved lot of € and made balanced diet.

  18. Just use white rice, eggs, frozen peas/carrots/corn, some sriracha and soy sauce, pepper flakes and freshly ground pepper. Bone Snapple chief.

  19. The easiest way to make rice for fried rice is to put washed rice in microwave safe bowl. Add water up to 5 cm above the rice layer and microwave at high for 15 minutes. Viola! You have perfect rice for fried rice.

  20. where wok? where tossing techniques? you just drop the all the sauce in one go and make the rice all wet and clump up? ok….

  21. Im about to try making fried rice. Issue is that i dont have eggs or green onions. Cant go buy some because im on a goddamned boat on the icw in texas and we dont get groceries for 4 FUCKIN DAYS but hopefully, the obscene amount of meat im gonna put in will make up for the lack of eggs

  22. ironically the average price of nasi goreng here in indonesia is a dollar like thats dinner right there lol
