This is what I ate for lunch, I do not have a food scale yet so I assume (fingers crossed, and keyword “yet”) that this is a half of a cup of green beans and one cup of canned chicken. It was so good with some crystals hot sauce on the chicken. I will lose this weight. I also worked out for 1.5 hours at the Y doing all sorts of different exercises. In total I burned almost 400 calories. Not to mention my steps. Yessir I’m getting it done. F binge eating!

FWIW eating super very calorie on top of exercising can lead to binging. Not sure what your daily total is but if you’ve had trouble with sticking with it and binging in past I’d try to not dip below a 500 cal deficit including with exercise

    Good luck!

Keep in mind though, restricting too much can increase the likihood of binging. Make sure you’re also addressing the mental health aspect of BED whilst working on the physical health, to reduce the chance of a relapse.

You can do this! Just make sure you’re doing it in a sustainable way so you don’t fall off the wagon again. And if you do, you can always get back up 🙂

Others have added in that going too low can lead to binges down the line (which is true from experience) but I’d also add that going too low while working out can make you feel light headed / dizzy and possibly pass out.

Remember the weight didn’t appear overnight so it won’t disappear over night. The key to success is finding a routine (whether it’s just diet or exercise too) that you can keep up for months without feeling miserable

I got one for $10 at Walmart, it has made this entire process of counting calories much easier!

Usually the treatment for binge eating is to actually increase the amount you eat during planned meals so that you don’t feel deprived as well as including (in moderation) foods that satisfy our emotional needs for eating.

Now if this is one of many mini meals then I could see this as being fine, but even for 1200 this is small for a meal if it’s one of three. More like a snack. Also bear in mind 1200 is not plenty for everyone. If you start at a higher weight, you are burning more than 2000 calories plus you’re exercising so you will still have a 800 deficit (the maximum recommended) at a higher intake.

This sub can still be a great inspiration. I know that at 225 lbs and exercising 6 days a week I don’t eat 1200 a day but still find a lot of great ideas here. Perhaps in the future I will be down to 1200 as I get closer to my goal, but I don’t think it’s would be sustainable because I’ve always gained back any weight loss I achieved through extreme restriction. Your situation may be different, so it’s just food for thought.

  6. try finding a middle ground instead of cutting so low! you can lose weight and still enjoy food, instead of risking a binge by having super low cal meals. i recommend starting at a higher daily limit and incrementally lowering it! it’ll be way harder to jump straight from binge eating to 1200.

dude this is the saddest meal ever

if you have been failing, this is not the place to start. To put in perspective I did the typical big weight loss (67lbs), gained about 40 back. I tried to start off where i left off, i kept failing and binging every 3rd or 4th day. Now my day usually consists of oatmeal or grits, some cured meat and cheese for lunch, a large portion of smoked meat and a veggie, and then some halotop ice cream and chocolate milk before bed. Ive gone a month+ now and down 6lbs

I found a lot more success in baby steps rather than everything all at once. Seems even more important when there’s a risk of binging, as many people go through binge-restrict cycles.

Everyone can start differently, but personally I started with adding an exercise routine first. Then I reduced takeout. Then I found low cal substitutes for food and new recipes.

Hey there, I believe in you and that you can do this!

But you don’t need to jump to 1200 calories right away. That may be too restrictive. Unless you’re super short.

Please eat enough to be satiated! And add some carbs!

Going to hard with calorie restrictions is going to lead to a binge.

This meal would make me sad. If this is how you were eating last time I don’t blame you for falling off the wagon! I’m sure the hot sauce helped, but carbs are key for energy and joy
