So I know a lot of people in this sub tend to talk about how they went off track and how all their progress is gone but I just want to say this is far from the case. You didn’t blow your progress. I’m a big advocate of just getting back on track and it’s okay to have off days so I want to tell what happen to me last week.

Longer story starting:

So I had weighed in at 138.2 and this was new to me haven’t been 138 in a long time and I was so close to 137 I was super excited and super eager to continue counting well I had a trip planned to go to Wisconsin to visit family and we did a lot of eating up there. Cheese pizza, burgers the size of my head, Chicago deep dish, drinking alcohol and I didn’t want to miss out on these moments because who knows when we would be back so of course I enjoyed myself and every day I saw my weight go up (I bought the scale to keep track of my weight) and it didn’t really faze me because I had to hurry and get dress for the day.) The highest weight I had gotten to out there was 142.6 that was my last weigh in before we hit the road to drive back home.

As I started going back to my life it’s only been 4 days since getting home I haven’t fully started counting again until til today (I didn’t want to count for Easter because well I was hosting a fish fry and Easter egg hunt) I am now 140.4 literally went down in 4 days after a week of having fun and not doing much walking like I do at home

The moral of the story is you didn’t blow your progress, you can get back to where you were it may take a week to do so but don’t stress out so much

Note: I don’t like beer but this was at a family get together I only had a couple cayman jacks but the family had a lot of beer it was fun

My tip for people when they have a cheat day or cheat weekend is to not weigh yourself until you’ve had at least a week back at counting calories! By then the cheat food is way out of your system and you should be pretty close to where you were at. Looking at your weight a day or even two/three days after is pointless because it could easily just be food in your system and water weight

My problem is that if I get off track I find it very difficult to get back on. It’s never a matter of being able to jump back into the saddle the next day.

Your post is such a good timing, especially for those of us that celebrated Easter this past weekend. My weight was recently 133.8 and this morning it’s 137. I was hoping to never see this number again but here we are. So much chocolate, so much pizza… I weigh myself everyday because this is the best way I stop myself from getting careless with my diet. Saying “this treat won’t hurt” is how I ballooned in the first place. I’m immediately getting my diet back on track and hopefully my progress picks up where it left off soon.

Haha, looks like you hurt a lot of feelings with this post, based on the downvotes.

I agree with your sentiment, gotta have fun and enjoy every now and then.

Enjoy life!!! I love posts like these because I have cheat days on the weekends with my boyfriend. It’s about the only time we get to spend without outside of work. We share food during our break and it’s healthy. Quinoa, rice and beans, veggie pasta etc. And while I keep portions in mind, I don’t count or track calories when we’re off because ultimately I want to enjoy and have fun meals with him.

This past weekend we had a pool day, we drank beer, we had chicken wraps and chips. We made sweet potato pancakes and tater tots. Later we made a batch of fresh warm cookies and had tenders with Chick fil A sauce. I don’t regret it because Monday-Friday I know I’m being diligent in my calories and feeling good about my goals

Btw, we are weighing at the exact same weight!! 138-142

Going off track for a day or so is one thing, especially if you’re cheating by only going a few hundred calories over, but I think 7 pictures worth of heavy cheating doesn’t really serve the purpose of the sub.

If I ate like that for a day the scale would go up way more than 4lbs lol

    Number 4 is straight-up /r/PizzaCrimes territory.

When you said visiting Wisconsin, this whole post made sense. I don’t think I’ve ever entered that state and stayed on target. Once my boyfriend offered me a gift of purchasing me unlimited cheese curds anytime I wanted the week we spent there for the holiday and I almost accepted it.

I am so proud of you for doing Wisconsin, right!

Thank goodness we don’t live there. LMAO

Yes! So much this! You’ll get there. I 138 was my stopping point for 10 years of yo yo dieting. I was 18lbs higher when I started 1200/day in August. I bounced around 138 a lot in December, then plunged below. Currently 127. Enjoy life so you are making manageable changes. Know that 138 is close and you WILL get there. If overeating isn’t binging, you won’t put on nearly what your brain tells you when you look at the food. It’s mostly pooped out. Drink lots of water and deal with the actual consequences. It will be ok. :). I love your messaging in this post!

  12. Yup! I went all out this weekend weighed in at 165lbs before and then 174lbs by end of Sunday. Currently weighed in at 167lbs as of this morning just going back on track not lowering calories even or doing any extra cardio just literally get back on track guys and you’re good.

Love your food that’s a true cheat meal or day bec that’s how I eat when off track for real treat yo self
