A little background… we go to S. Indiana on a regular basis to visit family. The nearest wine shop is ~1 hour in any direction. The only options are what you can get at CVS, Walmart, or the local wineries.
These aren’t really my speed but I thought I’d branch out a little and give some a try. Wish me luck!

Those lebels need some help
Did you throw them all out?
French Lick Winery – and not a single obvious Larry Bird allusion on any of the labels? Seriously missed opportunity …
I’m guessing they are hawking these at $65 a bottle at the Winery.
My husband is from Southern Indiana (about an hour away from French Lick) and all the wine I can seem to find up there is sickeningly sweet.
His family drinks a moscato that tastes like sweet tarts. I have to stick to beer while I’m up there.
Godspeed, sir.
Hey I was raised about a mile from hubers!
I’m in the area just North of Louisville.
Oliver up in Bloomington does some solid winery only releases. For Southern Indiana Turtle Run and Huber’s are the best you’ll get.
There’s a fantastic wine bar and shop in New Albany called “Wine Shop” though, so if you’re in that part of So.IN I’d recommend checking it out.
They don’t make wine in Indiana! I bet your next post will be about wine from New Mexico. As if.
Its so funny to me that the American public is generally wine illiterate in the mid west and south. I have thought about moving to some of these god forsaken shit holes to try and do gods work, spreading the word for our lord and savior – fully fermented dry wine (and no back sweetening!)
I grew up in Southern Indiana and went to school with a bunch of the Huber grandchildren. We’d go up to Huber’s for events and, later, the occasional wine tasting.
They produced a couple of decent wines but overall I don’t think Indiana is great wine country. Certainly better than Kentucky, I suppose.
You’re definitely not missing much. Indiana’s climate is good for beer, not so much wine.
Pictures of grapes on the bottle is retarded
