Thighs were rolling at a steady 400° so I walked away to work on a sauce. Came back 15 minutes later to heavy smoke, big fire, temps registering off the thermometer, and a ruined dinner.
I had a 2 zone fire so I don't even know how that happened 🤷♂️

Happens to the best of us. If it’s the skin I just pull it off.

Luckily the skin will come right off and chicken will have a nice char taste.
I know I’ve been reading this sub too long when my first reaction to the picture was “oh that’s a nice bark.” Glad you were able to salvage something tasty.
