Grilled Caesar Salad
Recipe courtesy of Marcela Valladolid
Total: 20 min
Active: 20 min
Yield: 4 servings
Level: Easy

Ingredients

3 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 lemons, halved, plus 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for grilling
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 hearts romaine lettuce, cut in half lengthwise
Three 3/4-inch slices rustic bread, such as levain or baguette
1 tablespoon sugar

Directions

Preheat a grill to medium-high heat.

In a bowl, add the mayonnaise, Worcestershire, lemon juice, mustard, vinegar and garlic and whisk until combined. Slowly whisk in the olive oil. Add the Parmesan and continue to whisk. Season the dressing with salt and pepper.

Drizzle olive oil on the romaine hearts and season with salt and pepper. Place the romaine cut-side down on the grill and cook until nicely marked, 2 to 3 minutes. Brush the bread slices with olive oil and place on the grill. Cook until grill marks appear on both sides and the bread is crispy, about 5 minutes.

Spread the sugar out on a small plate. Dip the cut sides of the lemons into the sugar. Place the lemon halves on the grill and cook until slightly charred and grill marked, 2 to 3 minutes.

Cut the bread into bite-sized pieces. Place the romaine hearts, croutons and lemons on a wooden board and serve with the Caesar dressing.

How to Make Marcela’s Grilled Caesar Salad | The Kitchen | Food Network

  1. Look at all the Ramsay fanboys trying to be funny with their like-bait comments.

Try to be original you nimrods.

  2. I thought it was hilarious that Ramsay not only never heard of the dish but thought it was gross to boot! I've heard it and it looks/sounds pretty tasty!

  3. "I always get nervous when a chef serves me the butt of a lettuce. When you've got the butt of the lettuce on, you can never clean the lettuce properly, and unfortunately, it's not very nice inside."

  4. I feel like everything was done purely for aesthetics. No way this tastes good. Sweet presentation but are your guests expected to just grab half a heart of romaine and gnaw on it like a rabbit?

  5. Ok imma have to ask you people to at least credit the chef from kitchen nightmares cause hes the first one who did grilled salad… I still aint eatin it tho

  6. maybe grill the lettuce then cut it into bite size pieces, chill in the refridgerator until cool and then apply dressing and croutons

  7. Who is that lady? And what is she doing on the food network? The moment she wanted to grill lettuce and lemons they should have known that she doesn't belong on the food Network channel. She belongs on an episode of kitchen nightmares.

  8. That is the most disgusting salad ever. You know its worrisome when the leaves are still attached to the lettuce butt, that is definitely not cleaned anything could be hiding between the leaves.

  9. I miss Marcella Valladolid on The Kitchen. She presented different recipes, different types of cooking. P.S. why all the comments that people are thinking the lettuce isn't clean?? Really! Don't you think they washed it prior to the demo?!!! They've got an entire back kitchen!!! And who cares about Gordon Ramsay?!!!!!!!!

  10. "Gordon Ramsay mocked this dish on TV. I'm a sheep easily influenced by figures of authority, therefore I hate it."
