I admit – I bought them on a whim because they were inexpensive and I had never seen a tall can, only flat ones.
Poured them out onto a bed of warmed rice. Lots more “sauce” than I’m used to and the ‘deens were very fleshy, not flattened. Three to the can, like a usual pack. Tasty, but sadly not really spicy at all.

Any time I see “mild spicy” I assume they mean they waved a hot pepper at it. Those look pretty nice though. I am starting to think outside of the RTG habanero hot sardines I have seen others post about, that most “spicy” sardines are not that hot and need additional hot sauce or ingredients to really be spicy. I do think the KO jalapeno has a decent amount of heat but they’re still not hot hot.

That sauce looks like pure junk food (in the best way!) Kinda reminds me of spaghettios. I’ll have to try these if I see them anywhere.

I love La Sirena Sardines – they are a very good brand from Ecuador. The small round jitney cans are perfect for a bowl of rice or a serving of ramen.
I have several of their 15 oz. oval tins in my pantry.
Their chipotle sauced sardines and the sardines with jalapeños in hot sauce are delightful. The chipotle ones are mild, but the jalapeño ones are actually hotter than I expected!
Oval tins are a great value too, since I can get two of these oval tins for $2 – and each tin has 5 servings of sardines inside. Can’t eat that many fish? They’ll keep in the fridge for several days.
