I screwed up and dropped my conveggtor/deflector plate and it broke. Seems like I’m always struggling to find somewhere to temporarily set it when doing a sear. It’s so hot, I can’t just set it anywhere. Anyone else have the same problem, and any tips for temporary placement during this process? Also, I’m amazed at how porous the plate.

Get the Smokeware lifter on Amazon. It was a game changer for me.

Get out your wallet son. I broke my first one in the first year of having my Egg (I’m about on year 10)

Looks like you got a patio right there, can you not set it on the ground?

I’m still on my 1st platesetter I bought in 2009. I place it on a turkey fryer stand when not on the egg. It has developed a very fine crack that goes from one edge all the across to the other edge and it can be seen be seen top and bottom. Due to that, I have recently started using a cast iron pizza pan from Academy Sports until I upgrade.

I keep a couple of 1X2’s in the bbq bin. Lay those out and the conveggtor on top of those. Gives enough space under for the gloves when I have to pick it up again.
