Alright, last night my parents gave me an awesome birthday gift…an XL BGE!! I couldn’t believe it, I was hoping to buy it myself but given some recent priority changes I was going to have to put off getting it for several months.

Now my question to all of you is, they told me that if I were cooking and it started to rain that the ceramic could crack. I live in south Florida where the weather conditions in the summer can change quite quickly for short periods of time. Is that something I should worry about?

Also, any of you have an outdoor kitchen with a BGE? I’ve been taking on projects around the house like setting up the electrical and water lines for sprinklers, and even some concrete steps but now with the BGE I feel like my next project should be to build the outdoor kitchen so it has a permanent home. Plus they did get me the stand and the side tables which I know is not cheap so if I could save them even a little bit of money I would absolutely do it because I know this is a big effort on their part.

Your suggestions?

The ceramic will not crack. Make sure you get your warranty registered as a side note, but it will not crack. I’ve slow cooked with mine in a snow storm with no problems.

Having said that I would put it under some kind of permanent cover just cuz it deserves the respect 🙂 but you don’t HAVE to.

Make sure you get the receipt from them. You need it for registration and your warranty. Scan it and make copies of it.

Very nice gift! Just fyi – the BGE brand accessories are a scam, bad quality you’re just paying for the name. Get a cover on Amazon, it’ll be 1/3 the price and do the exact same thing. Also use Ceramic Grill Store for plate setters, grates, etc. happy grilling!
