Put together my be grill today, took a bit longer than expected but that's my own fault.

1) Is it normal for smoke to POUR out from the ash clean out cup? The first time I tried it I stopped the grill during warm up because I was worried I had messed something up. I disassembled the grill the burn pot and checked the Ash damper part and it was properly installed.

I restarted the grill and pushed through and it seemed to calm down after the grill got to temperature.

2) Has anyone had quality issues with their Campchef grill?

I don't mean to be petty but for the price I paid this thing came a little banged up. The main smoker body is dented from the shipping straps. The pellet hopper was also bent in. And they're just generally scuffs and scrapes all around it. There's already enamel coming off the grates and rust on one part.

At 280 lb shipping weight it's not worth sending back but it is disappointing…

I'd love to hear other people's thoughts.

I literally just unpacked a Woodwind Pro 36 and from the outside of the box I assumed it was going to be all dinged up.  I apparently got lucky because mine ended up being pristine once unboxed.  As far as the ash cup question.  I can only say that I did not notice any smoke coming from it when I did my burn off.  I also have not noticed any smoke from the ash cup tonight. (I have a pork butt going overnight) If it were me I would at least reach out to Camp Chef.  You are not wrong that it is a lot of money to receive damaged.  Also, feedback is a gift, maybe they will have to change their packaging and avoid a host of future complaints.   My 2 cents
