today I’m going to show you how to make
a chili hot dog tater tot casserole
first thing we’re going to do show you
how to make my delicious homemade chili
let’s make Catherine’s plates beanless
chili great for hot dogs we’re going to
start with one Celery Stock that we’ve
cleaned off start dicing them
up add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to a
medium Skillet over medium high heat
we’re going to heat it
up add in our
celery while this is sautéing down we’re
going to chop up half an
onion all right we’re going to go ahead
and add this to our
celery we’re going to sauté these down
for 4 to 5 minutes until lightly brown
and they’re nice and soft add in two
teaspoons of minced
garlic cook it down for 30 seconds
what smells good in there going to add
in one lound of ground
beef break it up and we’re going to
Brown it
up the trick to chili is you want to
mash up the meat really good it’ll make
a fine texture for your
chili want to drain out any excess
grease I just use my paper towel
trick all right let’s flavor up our meat
1 tbspoon of white granulated
sugar 1 tblspoon yellow
mustard 2 teaspoon chili powder 1
teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon salt
half a teaspoon black
pepper one teaspoon
whisher mix This
Together mash it all in you can break
that brown beef up really
good 14 oz of fire roasted diced
tomatoes these come in a can juice and
all 1/4 cup of tomato paste or half a
cup of tomato soup this will help
thicken it
up half a cup of
water let’s Mash this up till it’s well
combined we’re going to simmer this on a
medium low for 20
minutes grab a spoon make sure you taste
for flavor if you need to add anything
like more cumin or chili powder Now’s
the Time M that’s delicious while it’s
simmering I’m going to go in with my
spatula we’re going to break up the
tomatoes really fine here is my beanless
chili I am going to be spraying a 9×13
baking dish with some n nonstick cooking
spray now we’re going to add the chili
to the bottom of our casserole
dish now if you don’t want to make your
own homemade chili you can certainly get
the canned chili and I would get 2 15 oz
cans for this recipe here if you want
more chili in there that’s totally fine
you want eight hot dogs for this dish
get a cutting board over
[Applause]
here okay I tend to use the Nathan’s and
these are bun length skinless beef
franks that’s what we like to use all
right we’re going to cut these into half
inch
pieces woo y’all let me know what hot
dogs do you
like now this will bulk up your chili
we’re going to go ahead now and add our
hot dogs to the chili I’m definitely a
fan of chili cheese dogs
but I don’t eat them enough let me tell
you I’m going to take a spatula and
we’re just going to blend in the hot
dogs into the chili all right we’ll just
even this out make sure make sure the
hot dogs are nice and coated with the
chili we’re going to put one cup of
shredded cheddar cheese or any kind of
cheese blend that you like right across
the hot dogs and
chili
now I love diced onion on my chili
cheese dog let’s sprinkle these on
top what goes on a tater tot
casserole Tater Todds now this is a 32 o
size and they’re frozen I just keep them
Frozen that’s fine we’re going to lay
these in a single layer
sideways all across the cheese and the
onion fill it

up we’re going to place our chilly hot
dog tater tot casserole in for 30
minutes until the tater tots are nice
and crispy golden brown and the
casserole is heated through we’re just
going to pull it out sprinkle a little
bit of cheese on top and and then we’re
going to place it back in for about 10
minutes until that cheese is nice and
melted we’re going to allow this to rest
for about 10 minutes I’m going to take
some green onion and we’re going to give
it some color that way people want to
eat
it find the biggest spoon that you have
husband
size all right he’s looking at me like
what no he agrees all right and then
dive
in look at those layers oh let’s grab a
fork all right there’s my
bite oh it smells like a chil cheese dog
with tater
tots oh what a fun casserole with your
tater tots and your hot dog chili with
the hot dog dogs that’s
delicious all right give me a thumbs up
bring McDonald’s to your house with this
easy tater tot Big Mac casserole all the
flavors that we love in a Big Mac put
together with delicious tater tots that
we love also so I’m just going to cut
off the ends of my
onion and take off that outer layer okay
the flavors that you love in a Big Mac
you got pickles that dress ing the meat
onion cheese it’s all going in this one
in some way shape or
form okay I’m going to go ahead now and
get my pan going I just have a large
Skillet I’m going to place it over
medium high
heat put in my ground beef I’m using 2
lbs this is a ground
chuck start breaking this
up now while that’s going to start
Browning go ahead and chop up my
onion I’m going to be doing half of a
large
onion to cook and then we’ll use the
rest of the onion to place on top of the
casserole before it goes in the
oven all right I’m going set this off to
the side and we’ll dice it up
later
okay so this is going to take a few
minutes so once it gets nice and browned
and the onions are softened down I’m
going to bring you back ground beef is
nice and browned up now what I’m going
to do is drain it all right you want to
make sure that you drain the grease
out all right we’re going to go ahead
now and just turn off the
heat we’re going to add some good stuff
in
there got a/ qu cup of mayonnaise we’re
going to
add 4 oz of th island
dressing 2 teaspoons of garlic powder I
know right that’s a
lot 1/4 teaspoon of
salt 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper we’re
going to be cutting up some dill pickles
to put in
three
Spears let’s chop these
up right I’m just going to dice these
and then we’re going to add that to the
meat
[Music]
mixture okay we’re going to mix this all
together easy meals to put together it’s
Sunday and so I’m just putting this
together it’s a really quick
one but we know the
flavors all right let’s spray the
9×13 this will keep everything from
sticking in our baking dish all right
we’re going to take our meat mixture
place it on the
bottom it smells like a Big Mac in here
I’m telling you when you flavor up the
meat it brings a casserole home let me
tell
you mm all right we’re going to evenly
spread out the meat
mixture I’ve got a package of triple
cheese it’s got shredded Vermont white
cheddar sharp cheddar and mild cheddar
cheeses in it it is 8 oz we’re going to
sprinkle it all on top top
evenly evenly spread it out okay what
we’re going to do now is add tater tots
this is a 32 oz bag we’re just going to
lay these flat all over the top with a
casserole cover the whole casserole this
is like your French fries that you get
with a Big
Mac what a fun lunch or dinner idea
if you have other hands in the kitchen
bring them over have them place the
tater tots
on okay I’ve got my oven preheating at
400° we’re going to pop it in there for
about 40 to 45 minutes you want those
tater tots to be cooked through crispy
on the top the cheese melted in the
center I’m going to show you how we’re
going to finish off this tater tot Big
Mac McDonald style Cass
okay we’re going to go ahead now and
finish off our tater tot Big Mac
casserole I’ve got some shredded iceberg
lettuce that we’re going to put on
top now I did salt the tater tots after
they came out of the oven because I like
my tots salted up to
you now I’m just going to lightly place
the lettuce on here that way we can see
those tater tots I’ve got some chopped
yellow onion I’m just going to sprinkle
about 1/4 of a cup on the
top we’re going to take 4 oz a thousand
island dressing drizzle it over the
top there we go let me give this a try
for
you oh doesn’t that look
good
bring McDonald’s to your house with this
easy tater tot Big Mac
casserole here’s my
bite oh my gosh those tater tots just
make it right but that meat mixture with
the pickles in it that Thousand Island
dressing
M that tastes like a Big Mac right there
I’ve got a tater tot and Chada bake for
you we’re going to take a delicious
tater tot casserole we’re going to put
it together with the flavors of
enchiladas doesn’t that sound good this
is a fast easy recipe we’re going to get
started in a large scale and they’re
going to wind up in the oven to finish
it off so we are going to start Browning
up one to 1 and 1/2 lb of ground beef in
a large deep Skillet and get that
going just going to use my meat
chopper start Browning that
up or you can use a wooden spoon this is
my favorite tool in the kitchen while
we’ve got this Browning let’s chop up an
onion we’re cutting off both ends of a
yellow onion just a medium size just
take off that outer
layer yeah you know me I’m always
cooking up an onion if you don’t want an
onion you don’t have to put it in there
but you know what it’s flavor and it
just melts in there cut it in half just
going to cut

slices just run my knife through and it
makes small
dices which is perfect for this
dish yeah this is the only thing we’re
going to be chopping up today get rid of
a
knife we’re going to go ahead and start
adding the onion to the ground beef
while it’s Browning
up just helps that onion cook down get
some flavor in
it all right all Brown up just going to
take a spatula move everything
over and then we’re going to drain out
any excess grease whatever process you
use I just like to take some paper
towels push it
in that way I don’t have to use any
extra
dishes just fast and easy and then you
can just take that
out all right let’s flavor our ground
beef and onion I’ve got some minced
garlic just in a jar you can take some
garlic and mince it on your board that’s
fine two teaspoons right into the meat
and onions and then we’re going to stir
that around for about 1 minute to
release the flavor of the
garlic layers of flavor we are just
adding flavors
in we’re going to add in some taco
seasoning or you can use fajita
seasoning whatever you like two
tablespoons now you know this is my
homemade
version and you can find the recipe for
that down below in the description box
or Catherine plates.com and just type in
big batch taco
seasoning right let’s stir that
in now taco season generally has like
salt pepper garlic cumin chili powder
all those great flavors so if you want
to add anything extra you can but right
now we’re fixing to add in a can it’s 10
oz of red enchilada sauce there’s our
enchilada flavor right there so we’re
going to add that in and start mixing
that all
together they’re going to come for this
one
now I’m using the mild it comes in the
different levels of heat so you got mild
medium hot no we’re doing the mild
today all right what’s the other mash up
haer
tots here you
go let’s cut these open we’re going to
add it to the
sauce you want about four cups so I’ve
got a 28 Oz size package here and that’s
going to be plenty so pour it
in
about I would leave some in there we’ll
check that out right here stir it all up
now these are frozen tater
tots these are actually mini tater tots
you can use the original tater tots
tater
crays want to get all the tater tots
nice and coated
we’re going to go ahead and turn off the
burner now I have a tip for you make
sure that you pull your tater tots out
of the freezer at the last second before
you put them in your dish here that way
they still hold their shape if you pull
them out and you let them come to room
temperature and thaw them out they’re
going to get very mushy in this dish
let’s take some cooking spray lightly
spray the dish that’ll keep our potatoes
from sticking
now don’t oversaturate that let’s go
ahead and start adding the tater tot
mixture to our casserole dish a 9 by
13 okay spread that out evenly oh
yeah doesn’t that look good now don’t go
overboard with it you want to keep those
tater tots in that
shape I have got a Mexican Ford ch
cheese blend this has shredded montere
Jack cheddar oido and queso quesadilla
cheeses that sounds
delicious we’re going to sprinkle it all
over the
casserole okay what we’re going to do is
place this in the oven it’s been
preheating at
350° we’re going to bake this for about
15 to 18 minutes maybe 20 minutes you
want the tater tots to be nice and
heated through and the cheese to be
melted with a nice golden brown on top
I’ll be back and I’m going to show you
how we’re going to serve these up with
some delicious
toppings all right I’ve just pulled this
out of the oven I’m going to go ahead
and sprinkle a little bit of Pico across
the top of it all right now Pico has
onions tomatoes jalapenos cilantro in it
all right let me put some on a plate and
give it a try for
you okay there’s my plate right here
gave it some sour cream I’m going in for
a
bite that melted cheese tater tot give
it some sour cream there’s my
mashup tater tot anchel
casserole
y’all make something interesting for
dinner or lunch wow you will get a wow
from anybody you make this for that’s
delicious I love the taco flavorings in
there the enchilada flavors in there
then just put it all over tater tots and
ground beef and make that Tater totd
casserole with those flavors all right
