Best Vegan Cornbread Recipe Ever
I’m not exaggerating! I know you have heard this before from others, but have I ever steered you wrong… food wise? I mean honestly! When we made the video doing this, the entire restaurant smelled amazing. Every time I checked the oven… pure excitement! I couldn’t wait to share this with you all. Recipes are to be shared so we can all indulge and be super happy about it!
I let everyone taste it, and everyone came back for more. It’s fluffy, it’s soft. It’s not to sweet, and I could eat it alone or with soup, or greens or chili!
So just do yourself a favor and try it.
When you do, don’t forget to tag me in it #CookingwithQue on all things social!

honey child
[Music]
hey fam it’s your girl q from cooking
with q and today i am super excited
because we’re about to get into some
vegan cornbread i have gotten some
inboxes about this recipe so i just
wanted to go ahead and let the saints
march in all on one accord okay so i got
our ingredients here um it’s gonna be
real nice fluffy it is not gonna be some
dry cornbread that don’t nobody wanna
eat okay
this cornbread is gonna be straight fire
so to get this thing started we got to
get a couple things going number one
you’re going to need a flax add i know i
showed you guys how to make this like
flaxseed
it’s your girl q from cooking with q and
today’s q tip i’m going to give you guys
a simple egg alternative so we have our
flax seed here we are using bob’s red
meal old school i love it it’s so good
three tablespoons of water so this is
one
this is two
and this is three now we need one
tablespoon of flax seed so we can make
this egg get popping okay so this is a
half a tablespoon and this is another
half of a tablespoon so now that makes a
hole
we are going to stir this up
and you’re going to let it sit now the
reason we’re doing this it starts
getting it starts becoming like a little
bit gelatin like so we’re going to let
that sit right there and let it do what
it do the next thing we got to worry
about in this this actual recipe is we
got to make sure we have kind of it’s
like buttermilk so this is one and a
fourth cup of almond milk and to make it
buttermilk we are going to add um
apple cider vinegar i
have one and a fourth and we are going
to add literally
a tablespoon one
i’m gonna use two
tablespoons
of apple cider vinegar now you’re going
to let that sit and it’s going to start
curdling and like you can see it
happening right now
i want you guys to see what it starts
doing
[Music]
okay so we have flour
we got cornmeal
half a teaspoon of this is
powder this is soda
[Music]
baking powder
one
two
boom sauce so now this is our little
mixture i’m going to blend this all
together
and now we’re going to check on our egg
and our curdle this is nice so i think
i’m gonna start i’m gonna let that sit
for a little tiny bit longer but what
i’m going to do is start getting my pan
you guys can use an eight by eight inch
pan but if you know me and like i said
every black family has aluminum foil so
let’s go ahead and bring it in
let’s give it up for a nice little
aluminum pan
then the black y’all turn the black okay
i’ma spray this baby
because i don’t want it to stick because
if i were to be perfectly honest i’m
gonna flip this boy out on the and you
you’ll see you’ll see i just don’t want
it to stick okay
i am going to melt some of our butter
the butter i chose to use today is earth
balance i usually use between two it’s
usually the either the sticks or i’ll
use the soy free whipped um
i was trying to figure out which one is
softer right now it’s this one so that’s
what one is going to win okay let’s just
make it easy for ourselves ready
i am going to put our
little curdled up almond milk in this
bowl
that looks disgusting
and then
then we’re going to put then we’re going
to put our look look at how jelly it got
it look it looks like a it’s like
it’s like the middle of an egg it’s like
that’s what it looks like so get that
out of there put that in there gross
okay now that’s gone we got all of that
you know your girl hates a mess now we
are going to add our sugar swam sugar’s
going in
and then last thing we’re going to add
is our butter we got a third a cup of
butter melted uh as much as i could so
i’m going to dump that in there like
that
and now we are going to get to mixing so
now we got all the liquid things
together and i’m mixing this liquid
stuff together before i put it in this
bowl um
so it’s just a good blend
but now we’re going to put this together
slowly okay slowly
and i am going to try to be sure i get
everything out the bowl because i hate
waste of anything okay
this is why i love these little spatulas
p.s you’ll be able to get them on our
website child because i love me a good
little spatula okay
this cornbread is gonna be nice fluffy
you’re going to be able to chew it it
won’t be super dry when you’re like oh
my god that’s a sound disgusting it’s
not look at it
girl looks like cake batter
i got that mama stir you see that mama
stir honey child out get that arm in it
honey child
now this thing is probably going to cook
for like 20 minutes so we already got
our pan ready
the only thing i’m doing is making sure
everything is mixed very well i know i
had that one piece of butter that wasn’t
as soft as i wanted to be but now we’re
good okay
i’m human humans make mistakes like
forget to melt their butter
what you’re gonna do what you’re gonna
do
i’m done
cornbread is looking real nice we are
about to put this baby in the oven and
call it a day let’s get all of our trash
out the way because y’all know your girl
hit a big mess now look at that take a
look
look at that
i know y’all like what is this what are
those brown specks that’s the flax you
use flax seed we made a flax egg
but this is gonna be super nice i can
already tell by it’s gonna be fluffy
it’s gonna have a good taste
i’m not gonna say it’s gonna be sweet
like jiffy but it’s gonna it’s gonna be
good cornbread
so now we already got our pan already
greased so i am going to just pour this
into the pan and try not to leave
anything in the bottom
look at that y’all almost almost like
cake batter child
i’m happy look at that cornbread honey
child looking nice happy we are going to
stick this in the oven the oven has been
preheating we got this baby on 375.
we’re gonna cook this at 375 for like 20
minutes and then we’ll take this baby
out okay
so the oven we go bye
[Music]
isn’t she lovely
isn’t she
wonderful okay so because we did the
non-stick it should just pop right out
don’t try this at home kids it did it
did it’s hot it’s hotter than i expected
okay
so that was intense look at that
look at that
look at that
and i am big on portion so i’m gonna
make sure everybody get the right
portion and not too much so let’s just
give us a nice little
and i saved a little corner piece for me
right here
look at that oh sweet father hallelujah
honey child
the glory isn’t here honey
the glory of god lies within this
cornbread you better ask somebody
[Music]
do yourself a favor and make this
cornbread do it
make the cornbread in the name of jesus
all i’m saying is you already know if
you make it will you just tag your girl
in it hashtag cooking with you on all
things social
until next time
may your taste buds be forever satisfied
cause it’s cornbread or straight fire
okay
[Music]
so now we’re at two
two tablespoons and now this will be our
last one
it was one tablespoon
to three what’s the matter
where’s the manager
i’ve made a mistake surely
surely this brought it at least i know
it goes at the end of the video now
[Music]

Next time I come to the D I’m coming to see your restaurant sis🎉😂😅
Wow, looks delicious, I was following til I saw the stuff she sprayed in the pan (what was that) and the sugar? I'm confused. What kind of sugar?
I'm going to try it. Thank you
Can I get the measurements for the cornmeal and flour tried to make it and I guessed
I made it!!!
How much sugar did you use? I want to make this for TG this year.
White sugar isn’t vegan but you can substitute it for cane sugar.. but I would use agave..
Great recipe, cant wait to make it!
Just made your cornbread, amazing. I'm not even a vegan.
Respectfully, good fluffy cornbread, vegan or not should have 3/4 cup flour too.
😮 I’m allergic to almonds, so I have extra creamy chobani oat milk. So, im about to use what I gave and let you know how it turns out.🤞🏽
Yess needed some to go with my veggie chili 🌶️
