As a Venezuelan I have to ask, why make arepas with yellow corn meal? They’ll turn out much softer/pleasant with the white finely milled corn meal (harina pan)
Edit: just saw it was your first time making them! If you want some tips I’m happy to share 🙂 but I don’t wanna overstep/assume

We went to a Mexican restaurant with family last night. The beans and rice were both cooked in lard! Margarita, chips and guac were the only edible options. This looks amazing.

Thanks for introducing me to a new food – and dinner idea for tonight! 😁I’m going to try making something arepa-adjacent using ingredients I have on hand and serving it with fresh pico de gallo. It won’t be authentic, but as long it’s tasty, my family will be happy!

OMG those look so good. It’s been a long time since I made arepas, now I’m in the mood!
