here’s how we improve our garden soil
and grow edible mushrooms at the same
time wine caps are some of the easiest
native edible mushrooms to grow in your
garden and like svin mentioned they’re a
dual purpose crop because they improve
the soil and give us food to start a
wine cap patch we just spread some
sawdust spawn on the ground around our
fruit trees and the pathways between our
garden beds and even in our house plants
then we cover them in wood chips and
keep them watered if they’re not getting
much rain they’ll rapidly start taking
over and breaking down the wood chips
and depending on the weather they’ll
produce mushrooms in about 6 months to a
year as their stringy white mycelium
Works its way through the wood chips it
breaks them down into a beautiful
mushroom compost that releases a ton of
nutrients into the soil the mycelium
also insens snares and destroys bacteria
like Eola and once they’re established
in one part of your garden you can
easily spread them by digging up a chunk
and burying it the mushrooms themselves
grow very similarly to the button and
portabella mushrooms that you can buy at
the store but they have more of an
earthy almost nutty flavor we like to
cut them thin sear them in butter and
then mix them into omelets

Earthy? Meaning they have a dirt taste?
Inspirational 😊
So cool!! Also Jordan sounds great on the voiceover! Hope the recovery is going well.
Love Portobello, so I’ll probably love those if they’re similar and I love nutty flavors and earthy flavored just means a little bit of meaty flavor sometimes
🍄
earthy is not a flavor I usually like to hear lol. Like "gamey" when referring to harvested animals
I added some wine cap spawn to the path in my community plot this year. Excited to see how they turn out!
Does it matter what time of year you start?
Those look delicious!
omg they look so good
You guys are doing great 😊
I am in my 4th year of these, and.i love them
That is wonderful. I thought a log was always involved when growing mushrooms. This has me rethinking growing mushrooms.
Waoh , you are really a super woman, where do you have the seeds please?
Do they prefer a specific type of wood chips?
it's so good to hear back from you two! I hope Jordan's recovery is going well and you're well too❤ love your channel
I so want to do this! I just need a wood chipper!
Woah they looked beautiful 😮
Can you buy the sawdust spawn at most garden centers, or do you need a more specialized place? I'd really like to try this. Would it work well to put it in a compost pen?
I’m trying pink oyster, button, and lion’s mane 🤞
