Hello, after living in the States for 5 years, I decided it's time to buy my first grill to cook my first burger and hotdog! I'm from south east asia so this is new to me!

I'm picking up this used Weber genesis grill on marketplace for $200. Is it a reasonable price?

I also need some advice on how to clean the grate and overall before first use? Also, how to prevent more oxidation? Thank you!

First off, that’s a really good grill and in fairly mint condition. I would only replace the heat plate/ flavor bars if there are holes in them. You don’t really need to season stainless steel grills but I use a good quality wound grill brush to get the worst of it all but if you want to get them down to “first date” clean, use a pumice stone. The only part that goes on that grill and is hard to get is a collector plate on the inside next to the sear burner. Great find and an awesome grill.

Stainless steel cleaner for the outside, check and clean the grates and diverters lightly oil the grates and then start cooking. Start with small meals with foods containing low fats

That’s a great price for that grill.

But, buy yourself a decent spatula and tong set — if the ones pictured come with the grill, throw them away. I’ve got that same set, and they’re cheaply made and will bend under any heavy use.

Solid grill, at a great price. A little elbow grease will have it looking like new! Even better deal if it comes with that tank and you don’t have to buy one.

Parts for these are easy to find and I don’t think you’ll be sorry. I have a very similar model Genesis (mine is just missing the side burner).
